88% in A&P 1

So close to an A.. I would've had straight A's this semester. Really mad that I only got 2 points away from an A but that's ok. Is that still good?

Just to clarify, 2% is not equivalent to 2 points. However, congratulations on passing A&P. It depends on your area and applicant pool as to whether or not a B is competitive enough to get into the program. It's not the end of the world if you get a B, but it may put you at a slight disadvantage to other applicants who have A's in A&P.

A&P is one of the most fundamental courses you need for nursing. Besides a B not being as competitive on paper, you might be at more of a disadvantage in picking up concepts in actual nursing school. I'd minimally work on your weak areas so you will have a strong background in A&P when you get to nursing core courses.

People get c's in anatomy and still get into the nursing program at my college.

Not debating that. It's likely some people that make Cs pass nursing school and NCLEX. What I'm saying is that this is one of the building blocks to the essential knowledge you will need to be successful. A&P knowledge pervades basic nursing practice. My suggestion wasn't that you repeat the course to get a better grade, if you need it to get into school then do. My suggestion was that you look at the areas where you tested weaker and remediate that; for the benefit of your practice.

Or not, up to you.

But I'm not going to say getting an 88 in A&P I is good. sorry.

If you're not in California, you may be alright. I know how disappointing it can be. I made a B in statistics this semester. I still applied to nursing school. You'll be fine. Get an A in A&P II.

If that is the case, then why are you asking us if a B is still good? If you are happy with your grade and it is enough to get into your nursing program, you have your answer.

You know what? You are right. I'm not gonna listen to any negative nancy's out there. I did great. Thanks.

Oh, you're in A&P I for the second time? Yea, 88 shows great progress. Good luck in A&P II!

TiffanyRN is being a little ridiculous. You got an 88% which is probably better than 80% of the people in this entire forum. Well done

TiffyRN, you are the worst nurse if you have an attitude like that. I feel bad for your patients and your coworkers. You really shouldn't be a nurse with a know-it-all attitude. I have done nothing to deserve this. Your personality is just negative which means no matter how much experience you have, you are not fit to be in the nursing field. If you fail, you try again. You obviously have never dealt with that before. Please excuse yourself from the forums because you have no right to talk to me that way even behind a computer screen.

I think what TiffyRN meant was that A&P is a crucial detail in nursing - I mean, it's a fundamental part of your job to know about the human body and how it functions, the different system interactions, etc. Even though you got an 88%, which is great, you should still be familiar with the areas that you were struggling with and try to understand the concepts you have a hard time with. We all have room for improvement, and whether you got an A+ or C in A&P, it's important to review and familiarize yourself with the human body. Good luck with A&P II!

Pinkrain94 - it is really not fair or professional to attack TiffyRN that way. You asked for an opinion and she provided an honest opinion based on her experience. She may have been a bit harsh, but you cannot ask for opinions and not expect to encounter one you don't like. Attacking her and her practice - which you know nothing about - just makes you look immature. Life lesson? Disagree respectfully and move on.
