Certificate from Kaplan
I signed up for Kaplan today and this was after checking and double checking on them. They are legit it seems with the National League of Nursing and national accredit... with the IAFN. It was difficult to come up with the money as someone else had said in a short time but that was not because of a scam it was because of the time that I called. I am hopeful, and I guess with anything else even after checking things over anything can happen so lets just keep our fingers crossed. If we made a wrong choice at least we are not alone LOL (just trying to see positive side of things even though that would be terrible):loveya:

Why Is The ED Such A Pain?
I guess I was speaking more in theory or something I know they cant have food or drinks,I just wanted to help make the beginning part of their stay at the hospital better not saying the nurses that are already there does not do that I know alot of great ED nurses that is another reason I wanted to try it they have told me so much and I have shadowed in an ED for a few weeks. I hope I did not offend you I got the feeling maybe I did as I read your return I meant nothing bad I was just wondering what some others on here thought about the ED basically.I think that I will like it there and I can completely understand what you have said also lol. Thanks for your help..

Why Is The ED Such A Pain?
I am actually thinking about going to the ED, I think I want a change of pace and maybe even make a difference in the beginning stay of a client coming into the hospital. Being on the unit I have heard so many comments about the ED I would like to Be a smile or a warm touch or a sip of water that makes a difference in the ED that will hopefully help the client feel more comfortable and think higher of their care while at our communities hospital it makes a difference and sets the mood for the client and family for the entire stay. :redpinkhe DO you think I might be making the right choice to do this.

Do you prefer 12 hour or 8 hour shifts?
:redbeatheI don't care for 8 Hour shifts it just does not seem like there is enough time to get everything completed the way I want to, 12 hr shifts are fine as long as they are 3 in a row and not all over the place in the week I like to do them straight and get it done with, I really like four 10 hours a week Its nice to be in by 5AM and of at 3:30.

Let's introduce ourselves...
I am 32 years old and almost through my first year of being a new Nurse. It has been hard at times and very educational, at times I have questioned if I made the right choice and others I would not give it up for anything in the world. My speciality is mainly in Cardiac and ICU. I still have to say everyday I have that moment where I feel I don't know what I am doing and I have found that this is a good thing because I learn something new everyday.:wink2::heartbeat

That First Job
I have to say I agree so much with you. I have been a nurse for 8mths now and I spent 6 mths in telemetry and now I am in the ICU, I dont really like Nursing it is not in any way the way it was as a student. Now I owe more money than I ever have in my life for a degree that I dont really like what I am doing so I agree What was I thinking should have stayed a medical assistant I made less money but in the long run it was more because I did not owe so much back for loans. Glad to hear I am not alone.

Are any new grads going to med-surg
I agree, I just passed the NCLEX and I been offered a position on the telemetry floor. But when I applied for the position I was just looking for where I was needed and what ever was open for First Shift.

Infection control guidelines for NCLEX retake
The center for disease control has a good website. Just Google for this and look in there. I have reviewed this in my Mosby books also. Sorry I don't have anything more than that. I am taking my test March 8th and I am scared to say the least but I also can't wait to take it I want it over with. I look at it this way If I fail I will retake it nothing wrong with that. Goodluck on your retake I know you will do great this time I will keep you in my prayers.

I have to go through the Pain of waiting come Thursday. I do not feel like I am prepared but at the same time I do not feel like I can do anything else but just go and take it and see what happens. I know you all will pass. You will be in my thoughts.

Do you ever feel like you will be a student forever?
I have been in school for 6 years. First an Associates in Medical Assisting and than started Nursing. I am now 31 I have two kids 15 yr and 10 yr and I homeschool both of them and finally getting ready to go into my last semester of Nursing. Has it felt like forever O yes. But I am finally seeing a light at the end of the long tunnel I have traveled. Educating my kids and trying to keep up my grades has been tough, taking one day at a time and having a very best friend that is always there for me and a supportive husband has helped but at the same time is not always a cure for the hard day to come. It's nice to know I am not the only one that feels like it has taken forever.

12N Sleeping During Break
I don't think there is a thing wrong with her napping. I think if people in the work enviroment would worry about thereselves more and not so much others things would run alot smoother. For some reason everyone is worried about everyone else and if you ask me I think that those whom complained need tobe observed and see how perfect they are.

Are nursing students allowed to give IV push meds?
I am second year and have not given an IV push yet. That could just be the school or chance that we just did not have enough time in clinicals to do so.
