Poor communication via Distance Learning

I'm thinking twice about going back for my MSN via Distance Learning. I am finding that the communication is suboptimal and doesn't address some very important questions. It wouldn't be bad if you could reach the folks by phone, but that has been nigh impossible. I do not want to mention any specific schools. Any comments would be welcome.

I would think twice about that school as well.

One think I like about the school I'm in (BSN) is the support available by phone. I've talked to the counseler a couple of times with questions when deciding if I wanted to go to this school or not. Now that I'm in I haven't had to talk to anyone, but have lots of phone numbers.

Good luck. Support is definately a priority when deciding whether to go to a particular school or not.

I got my BS/MS via distance/100%. I only called twice. I always emailed and got fast response. Maybe you can try sending an email and see if they respond? That may be the ususal way of contacting them.

Does your school have a website for students? I found distance learning students to be very supportive of each other, and had some really great study buddies along the way. I found much more support/communication in my distance program than in any B&M program I did.

I am doing distance learning also. I have had great support from the school I decided on. I use alot of email instead of phone with my teachers but for financial or technical support have used phone and or live chat and everyone has been very helpful. I guess it depends on the school. I really enjoy the school I have chosen.

I'm doing my MSN online also (and already finished my online BSN) and have not had any issues. I rarely call - I use email almost exclusively. Tech support is absolutely the best. Good luck.

It really depends on the institution. I have been taking classes online now for quite some time and the communication between the schools is always different. From what it sounds like though, you may not be happy with this school because they are communicating poorly from the get go. Good Luck!

Hope that made sense.
