death in numbers

Death in Numbers....

Has any of you heard of deaths coming in numbers of 3? I work in LTC and we have had 7 people die in the past 3 weeks. Last night just started our next set. Do you all beleave this?

My grandma always said that, too. She counted it with famous people--the last was Hepburn, Hackett and Ebsen. Family members, also. Lucky for us, there hasn't been a run of family deaths lately.

My grandma came from Germany, so I always figured it was a German saying.

Whoops, sorry. Yea, I believe it. Though sometimes it depends on how you count them.

I've seen it with deaths and births! I remember when I used to work Newborn, we would have twins come in three's!

yes- I have always counted things in 3's- from deaths to retinal detachements!!! all things go in 3's!

Lots of things go in three's including ICU admissions!!! We just had three necrotising fascitis pts at once!

I totally believe it. There are 3 funeral homes in our area and you can be sure if one gets busy there will be two more deaths within the week.

Yeh... have found that to be so at dailysis as well. Seems like when we lose one, two more are sure to follow within a very short time. I wonder why that is?

I've always seen it in threes as well, on Thursday we had three patients die in CCU.

I always see death come in 3's. Never picked up on it until someone mentioned it to me about 15 years ago. Every time someone has died since then, two more always followed within two weeks and it's always the ones you least expect. It's verrrrry weird isn't it?

I have "known" about deaths coming in 3s since I was a kid...my Mom was a nurse who spent 45 years working in NHs & SNFs.

I have lost 3 immediate family members within 3.5 months this year...and then I lost a (distant) family member last week. I am kind of nervous.

I was told about the power of 3 when I was a CNA in my teens. To this day, it still holds true. Even working in a doctors office.

I work in a LTCF and it's true deaths and births do come in 3's.

Years ago I worked in OB , we always had deliveries in 3s. Also the full moon has a lot to do with activity in hospitals.

Weird ...I know.
