I am curious to generally how much more $$ someone gets working per diem over someone who doesn't? Also, do all or most hospitals offer this option?

Most hospitals I have worked gave premium of appx. 12-18% for per diem. Some hospitals also require you to work a minimum number of shifts, with a weekend or two every month. All you can do is ask.

Our hospitals just call it a casual position and don't pay you any more. Agency workers get about 10-20$ an hour more than regular staff though.

In our hospital it depends on how many hours you sign up for. There is one plan that is almost full time that makes pretty good money, almost $10.00 more than staff. Other plans aren't that much.

Lately though, our census is down and per diem hasn't been getting any work. When they don't work, they don't get paid. No benefits. No person time off to take when canceled. During the busy winter there's plenty of work here.

I get a 15% differential for being "perdiem".

Last I worked per diem it was at $35/hour. Regular staff was paid about $25.

I'm a per diem LVN and it's 60% above the full time LVN's at the hospital I work for.

At the last hospital I worked all perdiem got $30 for days and $33 for nights. I do not know how much more that was because the perdeim all got the same flat rate and ofcurse staff got different rates due to longevity, experience etc.

At our facility we have few per diem with short staffed as we are. Our per diem work at leat one day a month up to two days a week only. Of course they don't get benefits so they average a bit more pay then regular staff.
