Just want to know for future, what area of the hospital pay's the most for an RN, just an RN, no BSN, or MSN. Please let me know if you can, I'm still a student, just looking at options. No I'm not doing this for the money, but the most I could make as an RN would be better than not! Thank's

At my hospital all areas are paid the same - no difference for critical care/OR/ER/L & D/Med-Surg, etc.

All hospitals in my area pay the same.

at my hospital ER, women's care, ICU, and OR make 6% more than the regular floor nurses. This is called "specialty pay". (mostly for all the extra things we have to be certified in like ACLS, PALS, NALS, moderate sedation yadayadayada)

All areas make the same at my hospital. BSN's gets 5% more.

Nurses in my area doing the same job get the same amount of money no matter what degree ie: staff nurses do not get differential just because of a degree. However BSN and MSN's have ability to make more money because the degree will open more doors for better $$ jobs

We have a clinical ladder..... based on experience and skills.

My hospital keeps up with salary compared to other facilities, the sign-on is better for critical care than M/S, and the night diff is good. We work 12 hr shift and also get a $100.00 for every shift that is at least 8 hrs or more over the required 6 shifts per pay period for full time. Without killing myself I willmake just about $80,000.00 this year, next year I might try a little harder.

Pretzlgl, don't expect that through all areas of Florida. I think that Paul's is more the exception than the rule. If you know what area you are moving to, you can check some of the hospitals online. Sarasota Memorial Hospital, a major Level III hospital on the west coast starts RNs at $17+ an hour.

My hosp pays the same across the board.

Personally, I think it's wrong for some areas to make more than M/S. M/S is a very tough gig, and most of the pts. are very ill...not like ages ago when I was a student, and there were pts. admitted for "tests" or a "rest cure."

More needs to be done to attract and RETAIN nurses in M/S. They do a job that I wouldn't want to do, and I hate the idea that some have that they are somehow "second-class citizens."

Do you mean department wise? CCU's usually get better pay and less patients, (usually!), from what I've seen in California at least.
