Just wanted to know if anyone has and good experiences working night shift and having a family. My BF and I are taking marriage and children but I work night shift and want to know of I can do it with a baby. Or if I should start looking for a 9-5 job. I like the hospital because of the flexibility(4days off, able to make docotors appt, able to take weeks off at a time,etc) but the hours can be rough. I work 3 12 he shift if that helps anyone. I'm just looking for any advice I can get. Thanks so much!

You'll have to be sterilized immediately if you want to continue working nights. None of them have families- it's simply not possible.

The only ideal situation is being independently wealthy and not having to work at all ...but nights work well for my me, my husband, and my two young children. It all depends on what your commitments are at any given moment.

Probably a quarter of a million nurses work night shift and have families. So of course it is possible.

None of your coworkers on night shift are married and/or have children? That's unlikely. Why not get to know them a little better and ask them about their experiences.

As someone who did it for 15 years, raising kids, I guess I can say, yes it is possible, and in some cases, necessary.
