7 yrs working as RN is SG

Hi ,

I'm working in Singapore for 7 yrs as Registered Nurse , but I don't have degree. Am i eligible to migrate Canada under "skill migration scheme" ?? ( i.e before I'm holding Canada RN license ).

Thanks.

Moved to International for more input.

You will need to meet the province's requirements for foreign trained so depends on state to what they require.

Hi Silver,

I studied nursing in Singapore including advanced diploma. I'm interested in Toronto city. Do you think I can apply greencard first. ( Because I don't know how to over come 250 hrs requirement without holding a green card ). Is there a way ?

Green card is for the US not Canada

If the province requires 250 hours then that will still have to be meet regardless on how you got to Canada. You can come to Canada on a temp work permit as long as you have meet province IEN requirements and get temp license from province. You can make hours up once you have passed CRNE, your employer needs to complete some paperwork regarding that and then the province will send you your license. That is my understanding on how it works.

Most provinces require that RNs have a degree for licensure.

Check with the College of Nurses of Ontario,

located in Toronto (I think it's on Davenport Road),

because the CON is the organization that issues

nursing certificate of competence. Find out what

they require.

Hi ,

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking about going for B.C Vancouver , they accept diploma and advanced diploma ( based on the CRNBC website ).

Am i right ?

Most provinces in Canada require the BSN now before they will permit one to get licensed there. They do not accept training and experience in lieu of actual hours in a nursing school to meet the requirements.

If Ontario is your first choice, then perhaps completing the bridge program for the BSN should be what should be done first. Going for licensure in another province will still not permit you to endorse or move to Ontario to work later on.

Which province are you looking at working in? You have stated you want to work in Toronto and then you said you were looking at the CRNBC website, that is for the province of BC and Toronto is in Ontario.

Cousins are staying in Toronto. But I don't mind staying in B.C alone until I got degree.

Do you really think CRNBC accept adv diploma ? ( I mean based on the website, yes )

Thanks.

According to the website they do. Best of luck. I think anyone that tackles nursing in a new country has a lot of courage.

I want to work first then I want to go for BSN. After that moved to Toronto ( relatives staying there ) or maybe settle down at B.C.
