I'm doing the same and I have been an LPN for 20 years. I took a full time load every semester to finish prereqs and just got accepted to an ASN program and will transfer after that to get my BSN. I will be starting a traditional program so they are allowing me to sit out the first semester. During this time I'm taking my prereq for BSN so I will be ahead. I am 41, married, 3 kids, and I work full time and have thus far. You can do it! I'm not sure about classes in Florida because I'm in Ky. but if your only planning 1-3 classes then I'm pretty sure you can definitely do it! Good luck! ?

Sounds awesome, good luck! (I am 50, will be 51 when I graduate ADN next May). Age is just a number, baby! If you take care of yourself and you can do the job, who cares how old ya are! I am the oldest in my class but there are several in their mid-late forties, some in their 30s and lots of 20 somethings. They are all great, I love them! :D

I agree with lorirn2b! Age is just a number. I'm 45 and I'm graduating May 2015. I plan to go on to finish the BSN and then, hopefully, either NP or PA. As my grandfather used to say, "you're only as old as you allow yourself to be" :D

Hello, I am going on 41 this November and I really enjoy school, especially Seminole State College. I went there for 3 semesters and I can attest that the professors are excellent at Altamonte campus, I never went to the other campuses so I cannot comment. I have taken 2 online classes and from my experience they are significantly harder than if you were to go in to class. The reason the are significantly more challenging is that there is no way for the professor to gauge how much of the material you are retaining, so the only way to gauge this is by making you read and take a greater number of quizzes, exams, and writing projects. If this is your first time back to school in a while, I would recommend going to class.

Hi Medic6758 and all that have Replied!!!

Thank you so much for the info! question how long did it or will it take you to finish prerequisites? Also, if you have finished how long did it take you to get accepted to the nursing program? We are no spring chickens... I want to do the best I can, but still a little concerned of "time"!! More info the Better!!

Thank you all for your time!

I am going for my BSN and it took my exactly 2 years to get my AA degree along with my Spanish I & II so as to fulfill the language requirement at USF. In order to accomplish this I had to do 3 semesters a year, I am retired so it was not a big issue for me, but if I had to work full time, I would not have been able to finish my AA in 2 years exactly.

Are now enrolled in the nursing program at SSC?

No, I am now living in the Tampa area so I am applying to USF.

OP: You're younger than dead. Make sure you transfer in whatever you can and just make sure that your school schedule will work well with your work schedule. It may take you a while to formally start the BSN program, but once you get there, you'll be in for a very interesting time in your life! As long as you're still younger dead, you'll still be young enough!

I started pre reqs in 2010 and went some part time some full time, and got accepted to start NS back in the Fall of 2013. I could have sped that process up a bit but I pay out of pocket so I could only take a certain number of credits at a time.
