Why on earth!

Why in the world do scrubs fit so awfully!? The waist is huge, bottoms are ginormous in comparison to tops, hips are not recommended...ugh! I just spent an hour trying on 5 different brands/styles of scrubs in preparation for nursing school. I was looking forward to wearing scrubs until today. Blah! I am not digging it.

I agree, most scrubs fit poorly, but have you tried Iguanamed scrubs? Their Medflex II flare leg pants are fantastic! They have gathered elastic waistband in the back and drawstring tie in the front. The fabric is stretchy and comfy. I have read reviews that they run small, but I find them to run true to size & they didn't shrink :)

i like koi lindsey pants, but I have no hips and am 5'11 ... the talls are just long enough.

I am just starting NS, so I went to a local outlet and tried on Grey's Anatomy, sketchers, urbane, and a few types of Cherokee.... what they had available. I ended up getting GA and sketchers... I will see how they wear, love the softness of the GA. But such a discrepancy between size M and L! I am drowning in L pants and the tops are snug (for GA anyway). I will keep an eye out for koi and iguanamed and try those on for size.

There are pluses and minuses to everything. The good news: you get to work in your jammies. The bad news: they DO look a lot like your jammies! ;)

Good luck!!

I am all about working in my jammies - I just want them to feel like my jammies!! I am sure I will find brands that work good. I was just thinking it would be easy to find scrubs that fit/look good. I wasn't prepared for the crazy sizing!

Just be glad you don't have to wear this get up every day to nursing school

This is my circa 1971-72 student nursing uniform...note really ugly dress with the "can't be ironed down for any amount of money front pannels" that was too short for the standards of the day but at my height there were no other options, the white nylons (pre-panty hose), and the mostly uncomfortable oxford lace up granny shoes...topping it off is my flying nun cap that I did my best to rake as far back as I could to keep me from towering over everyone and bashing on everything (also against regs)...I'm 5'8" and that cap made me near 6'. Now, just think about crawling under a bed, bending over and all those other awkward things while not showing anything (we still had mens and womans wards back then). Give me scrubs any day even if they don't fit well. Oh and I blurred my face just in case anyone is still alive who might recognize me:lol2:.

Haha! I sounded exactly like that today when I was shopping, too! The fit is absolutely horrible, and the darn drawstrings suck!! I was looking for the elastic waistband, but they were few and far between (and more expensive). I'm a size 8 in jeans, but I had to get XS scrubs. *****! haha. I guess it boosts my self confidence a bit knowing that I got a small size. Oh wells, I hate unisex sizes. Aaaand, did you try out the flare scrubs? I do not like those either. I got those real quick and wore them all week... terrible. Although I know a lot of people love them.

I hate that drawstring. If you don't want to tuck something in, it looks like a big bulge under the top. Annoying.

I love Koi Marissa, but they are phasing them out. The Lindsays are not comfortable for me. They are barely long enough, because my hips take up the extra. I like the koi fabric though. I'm so stuck.

Jealous that some of you have OPTIONS for scrubs in nursing school. We have ONE manufacturer and ONE line and ONE color to purchase from. Pants come with cargo drawstring or regular elastic waist, and tops come with one chest pocket or two front pocket. That's it.

Cherokee scrubs are kind of rough at first (until they go through a few washes) but I like the fact that they come in smaller sizes (XS and XXS) AND petite! Dickies carries petite sizes, too. For nursing school we had to buy our tops from the uniform company and scrub jackets from them too (because they needed to sew on the patches) but for pants we could buy whatever, as long as they were navy. I went with Dickies.

We could only wear Cherokee scrubs while in school, we even had certain model numbers and they had to be white shirts and navy pants. I got in trouble because I looked sloppy in my XXS shirt and XS pants. I'm 5'8 and 105lbs. NOTHING FIT! I finally bought some GA pants and all of a sudden "that is much better". I kind of had to start doing my own thing towards the end to try and look as professional as possible. The scrubs they picked out made me feel like an inverted triangle. I always felt like I was swimming in the shirt, but the GA pants were so much better. I learned the Cherokee pants shrank up after a few washes and you could see my bright white socks! My school even tried to dictate what color our UNDERWEAR was!!!!!!!! It was INSANE!
