I've noticed a lot of programs don't require super high level math here in Texas. There are a couple programs in the Houston area that seem to require college algebra.. but most of the ones I'm applying to do not.. they only require that you test out of the basic/intermediate algebra on the entrance test.
That's helpful, thank you both. I am worried now that my math skills won't be good enough for the THEA. I've been out of school for a while and whatever I did absorb from high school has probably long since been forgotten. I suppose there are study guides for the test. At least I hope there are!
You will do fine. I started my program this August, and I absolutly suck at math. I used the test prep booklet, worked the problems out in the book over and over, everyday until the test, and passed with about 20% higher than I thought I would....Not saying that it's easy, but the prep books are usually right on the money. Good Luck!

How long did you give yourself to prepare? I don't have to actually register for another 3-4 weeks. What amount of time would you recommend taking to study?
I'm actually in a BSN program and there is very little math required at my school. I had to take a low level math because I did not take enough in high school, statistics, and there was math on the teas test but thats it..Very easy and very little math just common sense and stats really isn't like math to me, somewhat like teh math you do in chemistry..lots of formulas and common sense

Hey everyone, I'm applying now to start my pre-req's at Central Texas College. I noticed in their course list that there is no math required. Is this normal? I'm not very proficient in math and it seems like it's a necessary skill to get into the actual program itself. This is a two year program for ADN. Does anyone have any insight?
