Ok so i was accepted as alternate #8 into the nursing program at my school for the fall nursing program. They accept 100 students. The people who go accaptance letters have to i guess sort of RSVP by april 4th. Out of 100 people maybe some wont accpet it, or maybe they cant, or the list goes on and on. I called the counsuling dept and the lady told me i should go ahead and take A&P this summer so i dont have to take it along with the nursing program if i am accpeted so maybe that is a clue that they do take some alternates. One can only hope

It's possibility that least 8 out of 100 won't accept their seats....chose another school, finances, pregnancies, etc... Then again, as you know, all 100 could want their seat.
I agree with your advisor about getting A&P out of the way, but make sure you try your hardest to learn it & do well in such a short time frame.
Good luck!!!

I'd say that you have pretty good chances. Nothing's assured, but I think that being #8 means you have a good shot. It's better than being told you're #24. I too believe you should take A&P this summer regardless of whether you're accepted or not if you have the opportunity to take it. Plus it will help take your mind off the waiting.
Good luck; I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I really think it varies by school. At UIC's GEP nursing program, they said that they go throught the entire waitlist, that is, if you are waitlisted, you are in, as many students decide not to go there.

It sounds like you have a good shot at still getting in being #8. Would they tell you historically how many alternates they have taken as that may be an indicator. I know in my class they take 16 and I know 3 decided to not go and it has only been a month since letters went out and I am sure one or two may drop even if the tuition deposit is paid..
I haven't asked if they have accepted and how many if they did in the past only because other alternates that asked there schools seem to have gotten no clear answer and i just cant put myself through that. I did look back at the roster for the start of past nursing programs and at the time of the class starting there has been an average of 10/100 seats still open so that may be a clue and thats after the program starts and everything. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying just keeping the hope alive i don't know for some reason i think god has opened so many doors for me that i cant see him just closing them all of a sudden so I'm gonna keep the faith. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is in the same boat and for everyone else on here
