Hi everyone,
I'm taking the dreaded test on August 1st, and doing tons of questions and practice tests. I'm wondering how other people are doing on practice tests...It seems like some book's questions are harder than others, but they all say you should be getting 80% on the practice tests to be "ready" to take the NCLEX. The highest I've ever done was 72%, but I usually get somewhere in the 65-70% range. How is everyone else doing? If you passed the NLEX already...what % were you getting on practice tests before you took the test??
Thanks!

i am focusig on kaplan's qbank - and getting mostly in the 60's. kaplan recommends a 65% on their material before taking the nclex. like you said though, i think it depends on what company/material you use. i test 7/18 and am also trying to fit in a ton of questions (between work/2 kids & husband -ugh!!) good luck!

Yeah, I'm not doing so hot on my Q-bank and practice tests for Kaplan. I got a 56% on test 7 and average about 58%ish on my Q-bank tests. I'm taking my NCLEX TOMORROW so wish me luck.

My score always on the 60 to 70 range, trying hard to do more practice and understanding the questions so i would'nt be guessing sometimes!I'm using Saunder's Comprehensive.
Will have my test on August, still have weeks to practice more.Good luck to all of us.

Kaplan's to me was the WORST...I used to get as low as 25%...not enough to build confidence, let me tell you. But, I kept answering questions, because a friend of mine told me to do it, no matter how low I was getting. I used various sources for questions such as the extension program, Mosby's, Delmar's, Lippincott, Saunders, but used Delmar's and Helen Feuer's Nursing Review for reading material. The other sources fared better for me; I would get in the low to middle 80s. I did pass NCLEX with minimum questions, but funny enough, by the time I got there, I did over 7000 questions, yet recognized nothing when I saw the questions. Just keep doing them and read the rationales.

I also had this problem. I was doing well initially with the Kaplan questions and then about a week before my test my scores got lower. I just took a day or two off from the questions and when I went back to it I just tried to focus and limit my distractions. It helped....but I think my main problem was when the number of questions increased. The more questions I had to answer the easier it was for me to lose interest and get distracted. I took my Nclex at the beginning of June and passed with 75 questions. Remember to take a minute when you need it. Sometimes you actually need a breather from the studying as hard as that may be. I think Kaplan's questions were great and I feel that if you can do well on those questions you will do well on your test, because some of those questions are very challenging. I hope this helps someone. Good luck and many prayers.

We had practice tests in school which I failed quite well. I wasn't feeling perky that day and wasn't ready anyway. I passed the one that counted though, even though I doubted being ready after failing the tests in school.

Test 1 70%
Test 2 66%
Test 3 61 %
Test 4 64%
Test 5 65%
Test 6 66%

Passed NCLEX first try with 85 questions
In my opinion kaplan questions were the most similar to NCLEX.

I took the Kaplan, & they said 60%, but just to make sure, I kept taking the practice tests & made sure to get higher than a 75%. Needless to say, I passed NCLEX on my first try.
