on my way up

hi...

i'm new to this site. i was searching for a way to get my medical career started...but all i seem to find are dead ends. I am in the army and i'm currently over seas in Iraq. I can't seem to find an online LPN class to get started on.

Before i joined i was a CNA...i know that isn't much....but i'm on my way up...i just need a little guidance on how to get there.

HELP!!

Welcome! i dont know much about the army, but dont they do training for nursing? I know a recruiter kept calling me when he found out i was doing nursing!! :lol2: How much longer are you over there, and are you wanting to get started asap or can it wait until you get back? As far as online classes, I'm not sure who is good, etc, just make sure they are legit. good luck! and

THANK YOU! for what you and all our troops are doing over there! :icon_hug:

Hi - I too thought the armed services gave some kind of medical training. Maybe you could look into a medic position? I also agree with the previous poster:THANK - YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR US!! YOU ARE A HERO! COME BACK SAFE!!

I worked w/ someone who worked as a nurse in the army. He wasn't licensed but he came out with an incredible amt of skills. I worked with him when we were both techs and he was reviewing for the NCLEX-PN

I too have had the Army call me up. They were trying to get me to go back in enlisted (I'm prior service USAF) in an LPN program that they're really pushing right now. When you get back, why not go to your base education office (or even see if they have one over there somewhere - I don't know what forward base you're at and I doubt you can tell me) and see how you'd go about changing your MOS?

BTW - THANKS FOR WHAT YOU'RE DOING and PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!

First off, thank you for your service to this country!!

Do not discount a CNA as "not much" A good nurse knows the value of a good CNA!

I agree with those who say use the military to your advantage...they want and need nurses so bad right now, you will probably be offered several attractive incentives. Even though you are a CNA, I would recommend getting a degree in the classroom as oposed to online.....at least for your first degree. You need the hands on experience and a good mentor in my oppinion to get an appropriate nursing education. Then if you want to further your degree you can try online classes....just my two cents. Good luck with whatever route you choose.
