I just received my letter back from VCU saying i'd be placed on the waiting list. They said there was no numerical order to this waiting list and I would here back from them if a spot opened up. Now im really upset because I was really set on going there next fall. Im wondering if since i was put on the list then maybe they were considering me, but there was no more room or what? Have any of you guys had any luck with the wait list at VCU? Also im not sure if i want to continue at VCU or try an associates program and finish up my bachelors later? Im sooo confused Please help
Thanks

Tons of people apply to different schools, financial aid falls through, they get pregnant, change their minds, can't afford to quit their job, and the list goes on and on.
So, don't lose out hope now!

I went to VCU for ns, they were calling waitlisted students up until the Friday before classes started for my cohort because students dropped or changed their mind, etc. Are you currently a student at VCU, are you transferring, or a first-year student, etc.?? I know it's difficult being in limbo, but don't give up now.
I am currently a first year student at VCU.

I would definitely apply to other places. Although VCU has a great program, you can get a good education and the foundations to start your nursing career elsewhere. Some people do not like 2 year programs, but they are helpful for when you complete it and continue to get your BSN you can already be working as a RN. The BSN degree allows for a lot more advancement in your career than an ADN, but sometimes due to the shortage of nurses they try to advance you too quickly when you arent quite prepared for it. Hope this helps encourage and remind you that there are a lot more options other than VCU to become an RN.

Are you waiting to get into the BSN program at VCU as a sophmore?

I am on the waiting list for the traditional bsn program to start as a sophomore. We are both in the waiting game. My fingers are crossed I get to submit my grades for the current semester soon so hopefully something soon I wil know. Good luck to you as well :)

I also got wait listed at VCU =/
Honestly I was expecting to get in, since I was planning on starting right after I graduate this May.
Did you apply anywhere else? I also applied to GMU and Marymount, so I'm hoping to get into either one.
Does anyone know the chances of getting into the program if wait listed? Like how many students
got lucky from the wait list and got into the program?? And usually do they notify you like right before classes start?
They said they would notify us from mid-March to May?? Any insights? Thanks!
hokie87, when you say graduate, do you mean from HS? Wait listed at VCU is a good thing. I know that they let about 32 freshman in and then about the same number as sophomores. I also know that a few of the freshman entry nurses have already either transferred to another school or dropped out.
My daughter is in the VCU school of nursing and she loves it!
Hi Cathylady,
I graduate with a BS degree from Virginia Tech in May. I got wait listed to the Accelerated Nursing program at VCU for 2010!
I hope being wait listed will give me a good chance to get into the nursing program!
Oh, okay. My daughter's in the traditional BS program and is loving it. You'll get in, just keep the faith! My daughter's in the Honor's College too so she'll have guarenteed admissions into the NP program which is her ultimate goal. Please keep us posted on allnurses, I'd love to hear when you get word that you got in!
