Wages

What is the starting salary or wage for a new RN in the Macomb County area?

Specializes in Neuro ICU and Med Surg.

I am going to guess about $22-25/hr.

I went to BAker.

I am an LPN, the first class to graduate from the Baker LPN program.

I make above 25.00 hour.

I am very please with that.

Kambra,

Where are you working? Are you in assisted living or something similar? How long ago did you become an LPN? Just curious as I just began the LPN program at OCC. Most posts here are for RN's so it's always nice to hear from an LPN.

Are you a recent grad? Does your hourly wage include shift differential? I would be pleased too :D!

salarywizard.com is a great place to look up current salaries. It even breaks down your bi-weekly paycheck with current tax rates.

I have been an LPN for 14 months.

We dont have shift diffs.

OUr yearly are very low however. I think the max is .30 year raise.

This is the second facility I have worked at and I got a 5.00 raise when I came to this one. I was awesome.

Do you work in a hospital or a LTC facility? I didn't realize LPNs made as much as RNs.

yes i make great money. I work in LTC

This may be a stupid question, but do wages depend on where you work? For example, would a nurse in LTC make more than one in the ER?

Is there much of a pay difference between an LPN and an RN?

I have heard that ADNs make less than BSNs. Is this true, or does it depend on various factors?

Yes an LPN working in LTC will make a lot more than an LPN in a hospital.

An RN usually makes (from what I've heard) more than double what an LPN earns.

Some places may pay a BSN educated RN a small amount more an hour, but I have yet to see that.

Specializes in Emergency.

In my 20 yr plus career I have yet to find any place that pays BSN nurse anything significant above what they pay other RN's unless they are working in a management position. The only time I aee LPN wages approach RN pay is in LTC settings- often its just to attract a nurse. You cant run a "nursing home" without a nurse of some type. I would not go so far to say an RN makes double what an LPN makes, maybe 50% more.
