where do you volunteer at

I'm trying to volunteer at hospitals around the area looking to volunteer to work directly with patients perferbky but those spots are usually filled or i get no response from the coordinator. Should i try nursing homes? How did you get a spot volunteering and where in the hospital?

At the hospital I volunteer at you had to apply and then they called you in for orientation and asked you what your too three areas you wanted to work at. And then they put you where the most help is needed and how it worked with the days you could come in. Try going to the hospitals website. A lot of them have a tab for volunteering. Not sure how nursing homes work.

I am starting the process to volunteer at the hospital here and hope to be part of the hospice team, or the NICU team.

I'm starting the process to volunteer as a casa. I'm also going to start volunteering at the local humane society. Neither will help me get a job, but I just feel like it is something that I will really enjoy doing.

I volunteered at nursing homes. At the hospital by my house, they wanted volunteers to just work the gift shop which is not what I wanted to do. At the nursing home, I was able to interact with patients & help the nurses with small tasks.

I volunteer at a local Emergency Medical Services in my town. Ive met plenty of doctors, nurses, LPNs, CNAs, etc. It works well since I plan to work in either emergency department or the ICU and they like to see experience really in any real medical field before entering either ED or ICU as a new grad.

I volunteer at a hospital in the recovery room! There's not much actual patient contact but we do get to wheelchair them to their cars. Sounded better than working at the gift shop or sitting at an info desk.
