What is your thoughts about getting the Tdap while pregnant. My doctor recommends this shot around 30 weeks of every pregnancy no matter when the last one was. I received it with my last pregnancy 2 years ago but not sure if i want to do it again this time.

I would rather follow my doctor's advice than ask random weirdos on the internet for their opinions.

Good lord, if you do not trust your physician's opinion on such a minor thing then why is he/she your physician on the big things?

This is recommended by all health organizations (WHO, CDC, ACOG). It's part of the initiative called "cocooning" - the vaccine is not for YOU, but so that you will pass on the immunities to your baby, which will help protect him/her for the first couple months until s/he can be vaccinated. It is recommended all women get the TDap vaccine in the third trimester of EVERY pregnancy, irrespective of when she last had it.

I don't know if I forgot that, it wasn't the case when I was pregnant, or I never knew it to begin with, but thank you for that informational post.

Yes, listen to your physician. This is very important.

Anyone coming in contact with your newborn needs to have an updated vaccination as well. That means Grandma and Grandpa! :up:

I agree but this is for a homework assignment and i was just curious about what other nurses thought about this or what they tell patients.
