UTMB FALL 2014

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

Hey guys, I know that the application is a very hard and stressful process. But I just want to say that if you guys need some help ESP on the personal statement, you're more than welcome to ask me! I got in for the Spring 2014 class. I kind of wish I had more help on mines but I ended up being in the first wave of interviews.

Hi ptpham6 if you don't mind me asking, what were your stats?

@ptpham6 What's your email..I'd love for your review of my ps before I submit it.

I have taken the teas exams two times already. the questions appeared to be the same for both exams so my score did not change much. if you ask me, i will just say take it asap in 2014. maybe they will have a different set of questions for that year and your chances might be better. i certainly don't want to go to that computer and see those same questions that i failed (no one provides an answer sheet at the end to tell you which ones you miss , so I'll take my time)

Email is [email protected] my stats were not that great IMO. GPA was 3.0 prereq GPA was 3.8. My teas was a 87.3. My personal statement is what got me in I'm sure.

Hey everyone! I am on the wait list for Spring 2014. I am reapplying for Fall just in case I do not hear anything. I am going to retake my TEAS and a few classes to help raise my overall gpa.

@ bwilliams1018 if you don't mind me asking, what was your stats when you applied for the Spring 2014? Cause my stats is not that great and the advisor i talked to said Fall semester is a bit harder to get into because there is more applicants.

@Phattrng

my overall gpa is a 2.98

my prereq gpa is 3.5 science gpa is a 3.8

my teas was a 71.3

I had a interview with UTMB on Nov 4th. Yea I hear that it is harder to get into Fall. I was thinking about retaking some classes and retaking the teas. I wish I would have gotten in for Spring but everything happens for a reason.

If you dont mind me asking, what are your stats Phattrng?

@bwilliams1018

overall gpa is 3.16

I think my prereq gpa is 3.3

TEAS was 78

Hello there, everyone! (: I took my TEAS on December 11th (the week of finals, not my smartest idea). I was much more focused on my finals than studying for me TEAS. I went through the ATI study guide workbook deal and took one practice test shortly before my actual exam. However, I would not have recommended that to anyone.

*Last Minute TEAS Studiers (Jump down to stats if you have taken it)

If you kind of slacked with studying like me, I offer you my tips. Even if you take it in the morning, this applies to you.

I would capitalize on science concepts you're not familiar with, but stick to fundamentals within each concepts.

*Review your grammar rules and spelling.

*Reading comprehension is pretty basic, just review the different purposes authors have.

*Math, I am very calculator oriented person, so if you are too just do the all of the math practice problems. I completed that section in an hour and half in the workbook. It is good to just to refresh your memory. Mistakes are easy to make. Memorizing some last minute rules could be the difference between acceptance and denial.

*Do the practice test online and in the back of the book. I'd suggest focusing on the science and the grammar tests in the workbook, because again you can kind of stuff those last minute details in your head with those.

*I kind of just read through one of the online sample tests, and it helped me get a good feel for the layout of the tests. It is good to be exposed to as much information as you can, you'll be surprised what your brain can remember during the test.

*Also confidence. Be confident.

However, if you have been preparing, make sure you are confident too. You will do great. Don't think otherwise.

**Don't be discouraged by practice test scores.** Especially in reading comprehension. It is not necessarily harder, it is just different than the actual test, in my opinion.

My TEAS Stats (I will post my GPA stuff when I get a more accurate calculation):

Reading Comprehension: 90.5%

English/Language:83.3%

Math: 87.6%

Science: 79.2%*

Overall: 84.7%

* Breakdown of science scores. Hopefully they will see that it wasn't life & human body sciences that brought me down this low and that will mean something. Hopefully with 78 being the competitive score, it will be okay anyway.

Human Body Science: 90.9%

Life Science: 86.7%

Physical and Earth Science: 78.6%

Scientific Reasoning: 75.0%

...to average and get 79.2%

I hope that helps at least one person. (:
