UTMB FALL 2014

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

My stats are:

Overall GPA 3.75

Prereq GPA 3.75

Science GPA is 4.0

TEAS overall score is low with a 72.0

I am not too sure about where I stand with my stats because my TEAS score is pretty low. I still need to work on my personal statement so hopefully that will help some with my overall application. I'm nervous!

I took the TEAS test twice, so both scores got sent to them. Does anyone know what they do? Do they just take the higher one and disregard the other?

At the information session they said they look at both scores. They are both taken into consideration I remember them saying. However, I think that would only be a disadvantage to you if you scored lower the second time you took it.

I think that they do take into account where you took your pre-reqs, in SOME situations. Especially if you mention it in your personal statement. They know that taking courses at a major university is going to be more difficult than at a community college, so if your grade reflects that I am sure they will recognize it. If that makes any sense? :) I am in the same boat!

@cjg2015 thanks so much. Yeah, I'm worried because my GPA isn't that great b/c I'm at UT Austin but I made an 84.7% on my TEAS V so I'm hoping it balances out. :) Thanks!!

I am going through last cycle's forum from Spring 2014 UTMB and I came across this comment. Hope it helps!

Friday Sept 13th OPEN HOUSE UPDATE:

Hey everyone!

I have great news! I attended the open house today and just got home. Here are the updates:

-Interviews are being reinstated as of our admission class, so for Spring 2014!

-The first round of decisions will be made in 2 weeks when the Admissions Committee gets together.

-They are demolishing one of the 2 "On-Campus" dorms, no plans for new dorms mentioned.

-FAFSA is now easier by importing your information from the IRS website using an online tool.

-Our TEAS V score is important BUT:

-Your TEAS V Science Score is weighed more than your actual Science GPA (It should match your GPA or be better)

-Your TEAS V Individual Reading & English scores are also important

-By the way, they DO see how many times you've taken the TEAS V!

-You will be Wait-Listed if you don't get in immediately and choose to be on the wait-list.

-They are starting to integrate the Skills Labs by including Medical, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy students so that we can learn to work together (like in real life).

I think that's it. I'm really excited about becoming a UTMB Nursing Student! The faculty and staff seem amazing. The campus is beautiful and just walking through the halls looking at the past School of Nursing Students' Class Pictures really infused me with a sense of pride, tradition, and motivation:-)

Good luck everyone,

Levi

Has anyone got interview yet, the one who applied early? If so, how it go? I just submitted my application yesterday.

Alright y'all I just applied last night and had myself and 3 other people going over my personal statement to make sure it was all correct in every way possible. I just realized that in a sentence I left out the word "a" in the middle of the sentence! And no one caught it! I read over it 5 more times pointing to each word as I read it and never noticed! I feel doomed :(. I really like my statement and so did everyone and I had 2 extra people read it and it wasn't till after the fact that I noticed the "a" and now I'm just like I might as well expect the decline letter already. Ugh. I'm depressed.

. There are people who already have been admitted and are moving into their apartments already over there who applied early. If you have an Instagram hash tag UTMB.

I am also a transfer student from UT Austin, so we're in the exact same boat! I re-took a couple science classes in order to raise my GPA, but I'm right there with ya! Good luck! :)

I just submitted the supplemental application and got to add the "a" in to the personal statment there. Not feeling too bad about it any more. I also read that they look at content and everything else is grammatically correct. So now I'm just happy to be at this point. It's been a long time coming.
