UTMB Accelerated Program Summer 2014

Has any one applied to the UTMB accelerated Nursing Program for summer 14?

Does anyone know what a competitive teas score for the accelerated program? Also, do they consider g.p.a for the accelerated program?

I just received an email for an invitation for an interview between December 11-13! Has anyone else heard back?

I also received an email for an interview! I'm super nervous. I have really no idea what kind of questions they plan on asking. Anyone have a clue?

That's exciting, congrats on the interviews! When did you turn in your application? Just curious about the timeline.

I completed my application around early October.

I have submitted my application for the Summer 2014 program as well. I am hoping my qualifications are in line with everyone else's. For the 60+ credits of prerequisites, I have all A's except for 1 B. I took the Teas and got an 88. When I took the Teas it said the national average was under 60 and the school average was around 70.

I emailed UTMB a few months ago to ask questions about graduation rates, acceptance rates, etc. They said they have a 90-100% pass rate on the NCLEX for their graduates depending on the graduating class. In 2012 the pass rate was 96%.

Since some have asked on here - They said that the GPA and TEAS scores that are competitive are dependent on the quality of the applicants for that class however they usually view an 80 TEAS and a 3.4 GPA to be competitive. They accept 80 students and last year they waitlisted 10 students. They usually have over 350 applicants, of which approximately 300 meet the minimum qualifications.

Good luck to those of you who are interviewing this week! I did not submit my application until Nov 14 (the day before the deadline) and have not heard anything from the school yet. My application is listed as complete it MyStar, so I am just waiting optimistically to either be accepted or to be invited for an interview.

I have applied at UTHSC for the Summer 2014 start date as well though UTMB is my preferred choice.

Thanks for all the great information. Waiting optimistically over here as well! Good luck!

During the interview they asked, "what made you decide to become a nurse?". They also asked a lot of questions about what your study habits are like, what you would do if your GPA was dropping... Things like that. They also go over your personal statement with you. It was really relaxed and the lady that interviewed me was awesome! The interview is absolutely nothing you need to stress about. Good luck everyone!

Also, they are conducting more interviews after Christmas break, so if you haven't received an email about an interview yet, don't stress! I submitted my application in early October. That might be why I had my interview before Christmas break.

Thanks for the update and info about your interview. Sounds like it went really well. It's nice to hear about what's happening with other applicants as we all wait anxiously!

I've been accepted! Good luck to all as they do more interviews!!

I just received my acceptance via email this morning!:) I interviewed last thursday too! They told me to expect an answer in 4-6 weeks, so that was pretty quick!

I also received my acceptance via email this morning! I interviewed last Thursday. I'm really surprised by how quick the turnaround is!!
