I'm not sure how new this information is. If you go here: Texas Board of Nursing - Education Programs and click on RN programs, UT Health's NCLEX pass rate was 98% last cycle.

Yes, I called... bahaha april fools letters lol

I called both schools... My first school of choice has now changed since the best nursing schools of 2017 in texas came out! So I bugged UIW first and they said interviews at the end of Feb, decisions by Mid-March. I called UTHSCSA second and they said that letters would be sent out on april 1st (I tried to be like "Ohhhh, so by April 1st" and they shot that down and said "ON april 1st). I've scoped out previous blogs too, they found out March 6th last year for UTHSCSA. It just sucks because you have to know where you are going because of deposits and such.

Darn! I was hoping we'd hear by early March...also I had no idea UIW even did interviews.

Hey, Jen! Completely off topic, but I wanted to hear your opinion on this. So, I have an ex-coworker who is in the program and called it unorganized. What do you think about it? She made it seem like professors were also a bit careless, I just wanted to hear your thoughts!

AHHHH so they are going off of 2016! I wonder why they are ranked so low then? Maybe the average of the past years as well? I just hope I get into either or. What do you think they did to changed the pass rate???

Me too.. I have knots in my shoulders from the anxiety lol. Yes, UIW does some kind of mock interviews. I have no clue what they will ask though.

UIW is just a smaller program, they don't take as many students as UT Health does. It's a very good school.

Last year UT Health started integrating ATI and other tools to help students prepare more. That caused the big jump in the pass rates.

Thank you for the info! I was reading an article St. David's submitted and went from there! That's good that the pass rates went up! I thought because it was so big, you were bound to have some fails on that test. Do they do practice NCLEX exam tests with you? I know you haven't been in the program too long, I had heard from a friend that they do certain practice tests and if you don't make a high enough score they can kick you out of the program?? UIW looks very good, but very costly.

You do have to do ATI tests to pass certain courses, but there are practice tests that you literally have all semester to use, and if you fail the test, you get remediation and a second chance. If you don't pass the ATI (along with the other exams), you'll have to repeat the course. I've never heard of anyone getting kicked out for failing an ATI exam.

There is an NCLEX prep course in your last semester. And ATI has NCLEX style questions, too. And most of the questions on our exams are application based, similar to the NCLEX. They want you to pass, and on your first try. It reflects well on them and as cheesy as this may sound, the faculty is really invested in your success. I was having anxiety over Patho, went and talked to an instructor about it. After the test, he saw me get up to check out, jumped up and came over to me to ask me how I felt/how I had done and celebrated with me over my grade.

I feel well supported and think it's a really great program (though I'm in week 6, with only two clinicals under my belt - this may change ).

I'm super happy for you!!! Pathophysiology is hard, I'm taking it now.. I'll have to retake it because they might not accept it but.... it's different!

I work at a hospital already and I had to get a bunch of shots updated and what not. That was a little over a year ago, so do y'all think that I'm good for my shots?

That is kind of a bummer that we do not find out until April 1st. I looked as well at other blogs, and they have all been in March and usually 2nd week. I wonder if they are just saying that. Boo, I just wanted to know.
