UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

Just got the official call! I am IN for the Traditional program. Quite excited about it as I think I will do better with an in-class learning process. They cut it way close! Hope to hear from more of you who might have been accepted well at this late juncture.

I have an appt at the school tomorrow to get my packet. See you guys on Thursday!

Hello everyone, I just got accepted to the Uta RN-BSN online program. I plan to start Jan. 16. I was hoping there were some people joining me on the 16 or if anybody could tell me about the program? Also if anybody wanted to sell there books? My first two class are Prof. Nursing and tech writing. Would love some information about these class? thanks in advance

Congrats on getting accepted into the pre-nursing area. I presume you already know you have to apply again for the actual nursing program. Also, a suggestion would also be looking into renting your textbooks, there are several sites - you can just do a search. Honestly you will not crack the tech writing or professional nursing books again once you finish the class.

Again congrats and good luck!

hey bjbailey1972, what do you mean i have to apply again? are you in the program now?

@2blessedRN

I think BJBAILEY1972 thought that you had applied to the BSN program, not the RN to BSN. You won't have to apply a second time since you already are an RN and are just trying to get your BSN. Technical writing is a lot of writing and papers, but its just busy work, nothing is too difficult and most of the time you get all the points as long as you complete the assignments on time. I have not taken professional nursing (because that is part of the BSN program) so I don't have any knowledge of that class. Goodluck! :)

I did...I apologize, pretty much all of us on here are AP-BSN (from scratch nursing students)....totally forgot there is the RN-BSN model...and you even wrote it in your post...dang selective reading...haha

Congrats to all that got accepted. I am really happy for you all. I am going to apply to a 2 year program and hope that that route is a bit more realistic for me to get into.

McKinneyMom,

I keep trying to use the link you gave to join the group but it doesn't seem to work & what I did get to come up only had 5 members. I talked to quite a few at orientation who said they were on it though. What exactly do you search under to find it?

studentjen07,

I was accepted into the spring2012 AP program. I wasn't partnered but on the waiting list. In the THR orientation there were 15 of us unpartnered & all of us had previous degrees. Half of us had Master's or even a doctorate and most of us were still on the waiting list at one time. I'd say unless your partnered or have a degree with a good GPA your chances are higher with traditional.

That is what I have gathered from reading this blog. I applied for both for the fall term. Unless there is a terrible pool I'm betting on the traditional. Congrats on being accepted.

I also work at cook children's. Can you give me any details about what Cooks requires? I was wondering if you have to sign a contract with cook to be able to apply

I am partnered w/ Cook Children's. Got accepted to both programs today. 4.0 in science, 3.7 other, 97 on HESI. Was waitlisted for this past Fall. If this is your goal, don't give up, just find out what it takes to make it. You can do this!!
Ok, sorry for the previous post, I didn't realize I had to use the quote button! Anyway, is anyone partnered with Cook children's? I'm curious about how the process works and whether you have to sign a contract. I'm a committ-a-phobe and I don't want to be stuck somewhere for years and years.
