UTA FALL 2012

Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...

Post away!

Hey all!

I have applied to both AP and on-campus BSN program @ UTA. It is very intimidating to read all of these posts and realize the reality of it all. Of course I hope I get in but we will see! I am also applying to Navarro ADN program, TWU and have looked into TCU. Navarro and El Centro does the pathways program with UTA and in your second year you can start working on the requirements for your BSN at UTA....and you are automatically accepted. I will have all prereqs done after this semester with the exception of Pharm, Patho and College Algebra but will complete those in Summer I session.

My science GPA is 4.0 and my overall is 3.9...HESI was 91%! Good luck to everyone!

hello all hopefuls!

i am a current pre-nursing student at twu denton. i applied to the tradition bsn on-campus program at uta. i'm worried since i am not a current student there and they use that for additional consideration. i scored 78% on the hesi and i have a 3.75 gpa and all a's on first attempts, except for a&p 2 lab; i actually ended up with a c in that course (horrible professor). my science gpa is still competitive so hopefully that will get me in! i also applied to twu, utmb, and uthsc san antonio. please feel free to reply! i am open to connecting with you all as we await this stressful period!

Hello everyone!

I've been following this for a while and I have a few questions. I applied for fall of 2012 as well as UTTyler, my grades are

science gpa 3.0

overall 3.0

with 2 considerations.

I was going to retake one of my sciences at TCC to raise my science gpa from 3.0 to 3.25, but she told me not to because having a consideration is better than a higher GPA is that true? I don't really trust the advisor because if its not true then it wouldn't be the first time they have given me false information.

Also, how do they know if you're partnered? I didn't know about that until I started reading this. I'm so confused about how they rank us.

Do they let us know whether we are the ranking pool or not? I only got the email confirming that my application is received..

My advisor told me that i'm in a gray area because my grades arent that great but theyre not bad either, adding on that I have 2 considerations, I have no idea what that means. She told me to go aheas and look at other schools but dont put Uta out of the question yet.

As I understand, they use the consideration to break the tie among the people in the bottom of the list (e.g. You have the minimum gpa to get into the program and have 2 considerations, so you can win over people who have same gpa but no conserderation)...

Thats what I thought, so I asked her what if I went to a community college and made a higher grade on one of my sciences. That would bring my science gpa up to a 3.25. She said its not worth it, it'll actually bring me down since I only have one consideration, which doesn't make sense. Does it? I'm just panicking right now because of what she said.

Maybe she meant it's not worth it for this application period since they only consider your current gpa??

I asked her for worst case scenario, because the deadline for spring is June1 so if I get denied and I apply again. I don't have time to retake it in the summer, I have to retake it now so the grade will post by then. I hope that makes sense. But she said it'll actually lower my chances.

Oh and btw, they just started looking at the applications.

I dont know why it will lower your chance (it should increase in my opinion).. You should clarify with your advisor :).

Yeah I clarified with her, she said I would have a better chance with my grades as is. I'm pretty confused too so I was hoping someone on here can clarify why.

What are these considerations that yall are talking about? How do I find out what mine are? I agree that retaking a science might be a good idea just incase you don't get in. I am retaking all the classes from my first semester of school just incase I don't get in so my GPA will be higher for the next application period.
