Nov 28, 201114 yr Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...Post away!
Jun 21, 201214 yr Thanks guys!!! I am super excited!! I have tons of stuff to get taken care of by July 4th.... !!!
Jun 22, 201214 yr We are supposed to be getting clinical assignments next Wednesday. I was told that they Would be calling a few more students before then and would be done calling wait listed students. I'm not sure if this 100% accurate just wanted tory you guys know something.... Still hoping and praying for of y'all still waiting!!!
Jun 22, 201214 yr I was told that they Would be calling a few more students before then and would be done calling wait listed students.!Are you talking about the AP program? Hope some more of us on here will get called!!
Jun 22, 201214 yr Well, I got called yesterday for the AP program even though I was denied for it....however, it was for two spots at distance partnerships. One was with San Antonio, totally out of the question for me, and the other was for Good Shepherd in Longview (2hr) away from me. She said clinicals for Fall would be on Mondays and Tuesdays, and beyond that she does not know if those days would change or not. I was so excited to get the call but now torn on what to do because of the distance! What would you guys do? I am employed with Parkland now and applied for Spring but of course there are people on here who were employed with a partner hospital and still didn't get in, just waitlisted. So, waiting for Spring would be a gamble. I am so confused!!!!!

Jun 22, 201214 yr i bet she is talking about ap. that is the program that i am in. it is so hard to say what to do rubyred...i would probably do it. 2 hours isn't too bad... when i have to commute anywhere i always download my recorded lectures onto my phone and listen to them in my car...that would be a great chance to do that!

Jun 24, 201214 yr To be honest I don't think being partnered helps that much... I barley made it in and I have better grades then some people that got in Unpartnered.... It all depends on who your against at your job and how many spots they have!
Jun 25, 201214 yr Well made the difficult decision today to pass on the offer for Good Shepherd. It is just too far away for me. I am married and have two young children so I just don't think it could work. The dean did tell me over the phone though that my chances for Spring entry into the AP program were really good considering my GPA and that I am employed with Parkland. I hope that is true!
Jun 30, 201214 yr I just got a call that I could go to the San Antonio or Longview program. Seeing as that I don't have a plan B nor do I have children, I am going to jump on it. Now I have to make the decision of which one. Do I move to San Antonio or Commute to Longview. I don't know much about the San Antonio clinical site other than that it is HCA Methodist. I am thinking it is the one that UTHSCSA rotates at but I'm not sure. I have not found anyone that has done the San Antonio program. Longview has a new Innovative Learning Site that they recently built but I am worried about the commute and how rotating at a rural hospital will look on my resume when looking for a job. I want to work in a urban setting. I'll accept all advice!! Please let me know what ya'll think.
