USAF COT 11-01

Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.

My husband commissioned on the 6th so I was just checking. Hopefully you will hear something soon.

I have just graduated from nursing school, and passed boards. Woud you guys please share your COT experience?? Was it hard, i read somewhere that if you dont pass, you cant be a nurse. I though nclex was tough for me, so maybe i shouldnt consider navy, if they have tough exams in the COT.. Please share your experience. Would really appreciate it. thank you, congrats to all navy nurses.

Has anyone gotten their orders yet? Hurry up and wait...I hate it! :)

No orders yet, I've been correcting and resigning paperwork for the past week or so though so I'm not expecting them anytime soon. I did get a call from my sponsor at Travis AFB today though so that was pretty cool. Makes me even more excited for October to come ! Turned in my resignation at work as well today since I'm giving them a month notice with my units budget crisis and all, it feels like it's all coming together now!

No orders yet either, my recruiter said probably not till the middle of September.

COT is NOT hard. It's an exercise and an experience in time management, poor management by upper level staff, and sleep deprivation, but you are not set up to fail. You may feel like you're not always given all the tools you need to succeed, but you're not set up to fail.

BTW, this is an Air Force thread. :)

Nice to heard from you agai Carolina....how are you? I'm gearing up for COT only about 40 days away....excited, thrilled and nervous! But it will be an excellent time and a very good learning experience.

Hello everyone! I will be joining you all at COT next month! I am very nervous but excited. I get done at my job on Thursday so I can start really preparing for this adventure (basically I'm going to live in the gym so I can try to meet the push up requirement)

I'm all ears for advice on how to kick some butt on them!

They are holding his orders because a Form is missing....UGH!!!! Had he not called we never would have know. His recruiter was just twiddling her thumbs waiting. A little follow-through never hurt anybody!

Get used to that!

Paperwork does not improve by getting your packet done. I finished one checklist, just to get a couple more. It is never ending. Just keep smiling and filling out your same forms over and over!

Oh! advise: print and keep a copy of your CBT's that you do at COT (I know you don't know what these are now, but the Computer Based Tests will be a part of your mandatories). The SERE and Information protection are required and take a long time. Get them done. Keep your copy of the certification so you don't have to do it again when you get to your first station.

FutureAFWife who exactly did you call? I have been looking for my orders as well and would love to follow up!

Any help or info would be great!
