USAF COT 11-01

Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.

do larger bases carry more uniform items? I am working near lackland, do carry the full range?

I'm at Lackland. It is fully stocked. But sometimes they run out of sizes. Usual stuff will be there. But the new nice PT gear was hard to get in smaller sizes the other day. Ask for help! And go big on the sizes. I wear a size 6 pant in the real world, but size 12 in the Air Force blues. lol.

I don't have my orders yet either. I'm all moved into storage now. I didn't want to wait until the last minute. It was an expensive plan but I am a single mom and couldn't do it all by myself in a short time. I have most of my uniforms ready to go. Wow, getting ready in 5 minutes? I really need to practice that. I'm so excited. Friday was my last day at my job of 9 years.

Its almost that time for those of you going to COT this month. I want to wish you all the best of luck in your new career path and much success. I can't wait until its my time to go to COT.

Enjoy and remember... what don't break us makes us stronger...

Thanks. I'm feeling so many emotions. Nervous, excited, happy, proud, and scared. But most of all excited. The application process took 13 months. I can't believe it's finally here.

I'm not going but I'm anxious because this is the first time my husband and I have been apart for more than a few days. I guess it will give me a taste of what deployment will be like. Luckily the moving company called, and we will be able to move before he has to report to Maxwell. He still doesn't have all of his uniform pieces because Seymour Johnson doesn't carry everything. That really sucks! We may try to go to Keesler to pick up the rest since we will be there Saturday or Sunday, and he will just need to get it altered when he gets to COT.

He was also contacted by his instructor at NTP. It is moving really fast now after months of waiting!

I am getting so excited! I just got a phone call from the Major that will be taking me under her wing at my first duty station Edwards AFB in CA. It's all really happening! I hope I pass COT because I am so pumped to start my AF career! I just had to share that...now I just need to get my orders and then things will really be falling into place!

Congrats! I am waiting for my orders also.

Hi all, I'm currently waiting for orders/acceptance. I was told there would likely be the possibility for January if I hear by Thanksgiving at the latest. The packet went out a month ago completed. The recruiter said now it was wait and see. I'm 37 and see I'm not alone in chosing the Air Force later in life. I had planned on while in high school. I got my ADN right out of school then got married to a guy who was entering the military. Well, at that point my needs became secondary and I became a mom and military wife. I should have joined back then and kick myself now. I see quite a few of others are being accepted in their late 30's and early 40's. YAY;) I have divorced and remaried...life has changed. I look forward to travel and change since life has once again changed for me. I have one child with me (11yrs old).

I do worry that my ex-spouse (who is still in the military active for the next 4 years) will try and be ugly...to cause me any problems with my daughter. I know that I would be a captain if accepted and he's enlisted...so hope to have the upper hand in that case. I would have her step dad with her if I get deployed. Any thoughts out there?

I have some relatives and old friends that think I'm nuts! They don't understand why a 37 year old nurse with 16 years of varied experience (now in ICU) would do this. I have explained the changes associated with the health care reform and I'm not seeing improvements in my hospital with staffing...this is coming quickly and there's a health care deficit. I would rather feel a part of something bigger than me and feel the pride associated with the US Air Force.

My one other worry is that I have had a hard time with push ups. I can't get them off of my knees and understand we have to do a guy's version from the toes. I can do them OK from the knees..haven't managed even one from the toes :uhoh3:. I can run the 1 1/2 miles within the time and can do the sit ups. I need to push myself. Any tips and should I just be discouraged?

Ok, that's it. I have vented on my spouse (who supports me and is retired military, too) I have vented on a few friends and family...not helpful. I get "DON'T do it" and no understanding of my feelings of being a part of the military...I get "aren't you too old" and a lot of other discouraging occassional remarks....*sigh*

I would appreciate any input and words of wisdom or encouragement...Thanks!:yeah:

Congratulations to COT class 11-01 on graduating today! :yeah: Best wishes and safe travels to all of you as you head out to your first duty stations or NTP assignments.

where is gerri? she was on here ever three seconds before she left. did she make it? I wanna hear from her... spill it gurl!!!

I wouldn't worry about the push ups too much.
