i finally got word from my recruiter! i'm going to May 24 COT. i was also promised january...then march... but anyway, i'm just glad to have finally heard. i'm going for NTP in Arizona and will be stationed at Travis. i'm happy i got my first choice for duty station.

any other people going to Arizona for NTP? let me know so we can exchange info about how it is down there.

i'm at the same spot- i've signed the acceptance letter and a few other forms but my recruiter tells me i can't commission until i get a date on the scroll from congress. when that happens is beyond me...but if i want to believe the recruiter i should be able to commission next month.

Ok this is a bit odd. I just signed an acceptance letter today and returned it to my recruiter. I'm going to COT 08/23/10, then to Scottsdale AZ for NTP, and then to Elmendorf AFB for my 1st assignment. I never heard of anyone having to wait to be commissioned. I was told to take the 08/23/2010 date just to give myself extra time to pass boards and prepare for COT even though I graduate in May.

Is there a chance that I won't go to COT on this date even if I do everything properly on my end?

RElax SpookyCat. You're in! You have your confirmation. Just graduate and pass your NCLEX!

I think they have everyone wait until the month before departure date to get the actual hand raise commission. So don't worry about that. It's the letter and acceptance that matter.

Thanks midinphx!! Phew! There is just so many things being discussed out there. I'm attempting to take my confusion about it all in small doses. :nuke:

Spookycat, technically you wouldn't be eligible to be an officer until you graduate, so that's the soonest you should be able to commission. As far as nursing, you can't be in the Nurse Corps until you pass your NCLEX, so you likely won't commission before that. A letter of acceptance and COT date, NTP date locks you in as lo g as you hold up your end of the bargain.

just checking in to see who else is in AFCOT 10-04...

anybody?

I may actually get an answer for myself on this issue (of when) in about 3 weeks per my recruiter. tick tock.

3 MORE WEEKS?! i don't think i could handle that. your patience is unbelievable!! but you'll find out before you know it!

I have officially given up all hope trying to understand what goes on in the Air Force now that I know there is someone holding an August COT spot without having a license yet. I signed nothing with the AF until I had my license and what if you fail (hope you don't) but some people that have licenses are still waiting. I mean what the h3ll!

I am on the back burner till May too BTW...

Does anyone know know if you want to back out after you send your acceptance letter in is it possible? If certain things occur between now and May I might not be interested anymore. Might have to get a MD to diagnose me with something...

you can still back out as far as i know. i've heard that you can back out once you get to COT too. i'm not sure how and i'm not asking because i don't want to be tempted when the homesickness kicks in. haha. so yeah, you can still back out.

but can i ask why you would put yourself through all of this and then back out with a mere 4 months to go? i could understand if there was a good reason- things happen that you can't control- but to back out because you're tired of waiting seems like a waste of time. in the words of my recruiter when i was trying to control my anger after i was told i was going in may "do you really want to give up on your career over a couple more months of waiting?" as i was gritting my teeth i was thinking 'yes, actually i do' but now that it's a few weeks out it doesn't seem so bad...most of the time.

anyway, i hope you decide to stick it out.

Adam, after all this time you are thinking of backing out? Why? You have seemed so excited about it. What could change your mind? Can you share and maybe others can give you some insight.
