Hello Nurses and Nurse-Aids!

I'm a new CNA finishing up pre-reqs for Nursing School. I'm just curious if there are some people out there that, like me, prefer to wear a skirt along with their scrub top, and what your experiences with working while wearing a skirt are. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Some recommendations on where to find skirts would be nice! :)

I dont know where to get scrub skirts, but I would imagine that scrub stores either sell them or can order them. But, i work with a lady CNA who wears skirts to work. It has never seemed to be a problem for her. She lifts, bends, showers, everything. SHe has ankle length skirts and the way they are made are aparently very good for the type of work CNAs do. If you are thinking Kneww length, I could see flashing being an issue, but maybe not. Never seen that so I dont know.

it is doable, but would spit skirt, ie culottes, be acceptable?

One Amish nurse I know wore plain, no splits, ankle-length skirt for clinicals and continues to do so till this day. She had to speak with Dean while in school and claim "religious needs" for wearing skirt and prayer bonnet all the time. By her, pants are much more practical but she is just so much not accustomed to wear them.

You should talk with the nursing department before you make a leap. This idea was shot down when I was in nursing school, there were three women that wanted to wear them. They didn't specify a reason beyond it the need to all look the same. I could imagine they would have to respect a religious need but otherwise they may not even consider it.
