Hi, I applied for Spring 2011, Baltimore Campus and the application still says "Committee Ready". I am getting really nervous and wants to know how many seats are filled. Any idea? Do I still have a chance of getting in? My GPA is 3.62. thanks,

Sorry to bug you but can you please confirm if Shady Grove orientation has definitely been scheduled for Thu, Jan 13 and Fri, Jan14, 2011?

Ideally, I would not want to miss the orientation but my trip has been planned, cancelled and replanned a couple times since March. Can afford to miss the orientation? What would I miss if not attending?

I got accepted, but I never received a phone call and I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, so I'm a little worried. Should I call and ask to pick up whatever I need from Shady Grove?

Also, what would you recommend for someone who doesn't have health insurance? Does Shady Grove offer students health insurance?

Those dates are correct and there is no alternative schedule. The morning of the first day is all about the Shady Grove campus and resources available to all Shady Grove students. The campus is open to the public so you could come anytime and walk around on your own. That afternoon and next whole day is only about nursing and will include meeting and announcements from your faculty, a couple of academic skills workshops specifically designed for nursing students, meeting and hearing from current and graduated students about what nursing student life is really like, lab tours and orientation, and, of course, meeting and starting to get to know your classmates. There is no way we can re-create all that for you. If you can change your schedule, I think you will be glad you did. If you cannot, we won't kick you out or anything but you are really going to feel out of it for a couple of weeks. It would help if you can find a classmate to take really good notes for you.

Lastly, if you will have late transcripts, we must receive them no later than the morning of Jan. 13. If you can't do that please get in touch with the admissions office immediately to see what can be done.

Be patient, but you might want to make sure that the phone number and address you put on your application is still good. Your admissions offer and, eventually, your admissions packet will be coming from the office of admissions in Baltimore, not Shady Grove. You will receive UMB health insurance, and be charged for it, unless you can prove you are already covered by another plan. You might want to visit the UMB website for more information. Shady Grove is a campus, but the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing is your school and that is what will be on your diploma two years from now. I look forward to meeting you!

Nobody knows because nobody can predict how many offers will be accepted or rejected or how long it will take. They just keep going until the class is filled. I know the goal is to firm everything by Thanksgiving.
