UBC 2021

Hiya folks!

It's a bit early, but since the application period opens in a couple of months, I thought I'd start this topic to share support/encouraging words/info/nervousness.

Is anyone else already excited for next September?

I read in the UBC nursing facebook that there was exactly 860 applicants this year and apparently alot of people referenced the pandemic.

Is referencing the pandemic a good thing or just is what it is? I don't think I mentioned the pandemic at all.

I don't know whether it's good or bad, it just said lots of people said the pandemic inspired them to be nurses to save peoples lives and that the pandemic created more inequity for marginalized people.

I didn't mention the pandemic either, I wanted to be a nurse before the pandemic occurred.

Like everything else, I'm fairly certain it depends on how you incorporated it into your supplementary. For example, simply saying that the pandemic inspired you to go into nursing probably wouldn't stand out, but saying something like being an essential worker during the pandemic or contributing to COVID research would probably look good.

any UBC updates?

Not that I know of. Seems like they usually send them out later in the day.

I would be a bit surprised if we heard from UBC today given how many applications they received. I think it'll probably be sometime next week before we know anything

I GOT IN!!

I got in!!

Mine hasn't updated ?
