TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

I took the exam the beginning of June. I called TWU around mid-July, they said they have my score. But, on my pioneer portal account under 'test scores' it does not have a score. I do not think that they post it.

I am curious to know if you know anyone who has been in the Weekend Program at TWU? Also, anyone applying for that program?

Every weekend for like 16 months is a lot of committment...I just want to know if anyone has any advice before I jump in and apply.

I don't know anyone in the weekend program sorry. and I don't know much about it either. seems like a great program for those who have to work. and atleast you would get of at 3 pm on sat and sun.

So is it too late to take the HESI test?

Anyone taking Patho online this fall? Anyone already taken Patho have an opinion on whether taking it online would be ok? Or should I schlep to class on Monday mornings and just put up with fighting traffic?

hey elizabelle! I don't think we can take it online. The online class is only for the accepted students...like the Fall 2009 class. otherwise I would be taking it online too.

Well I just emailed Katie and asked, because there are over 20 spots left available in the 2 online courses offered from the Parkland and Denton campuses. I don't know why those spots wouldn't be open to us. I will let you know what I find out.

Goopsy,

You were right. The online courses are reserved for RN-BS/MS students only.

I don't know. Some people have said that it takes a month to get your scores submitted, but what I recommend is calling the College of Nursing to find out. They are always very helpful, and I wouldn't assume that it is too late just from what you read on this forum without calling them directly and checking. (940)-898-2401

Ok I called TWU today and they have received my Hesi exam scores.I don't think you can see it on your pioneer portal. You just have to call in to confirm they received for anyone who's curious.

hey everyone i'm taking the HESI on aug. 25 and i'm wondering if anybody could recommend a study guide that they feel worked for them? i just took the NET yesterday which was required for a few other schools i'm applying to...are the math and reading sections similar? thanks!

I used the study guide that was written by the Elsevier Hesi people. You can find it under the Hesi information on the TWU nursing department page online. It takes a couple of links but you'll get there. Also the Math and Reading sections to me were very different. The reading portion of the NET was way harder than that on the Hesi, but of course the Hesi has all the sciences whereas the NETdid not. So get the study guide, literally some of the questions in the study guide were on my test.
