Two Degrees?

My niece recently graduated with her BSN and is saying that she has two degrees because she has an ASN and BSN. I've never really thought about this before. What do you guys think?

On one hand I think that she's technically correct; on the other, I think it's a bit redundant.

I graduated with my BS in psychology, then an ASN, then my BSN, then my MSN,...so technically I have 4 degrees,...redundant maybe, but accurate.

Right out of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I attended a community college and got an Associate's Degree in General Education. I went back to school a year later at a university majoring in Social Work and did two years but ended up having to drop out due to financial/personal issues.

At age 38, I entered the ADN program of that same CC and got my nursing degree.

At age 52, I did the ADN-BSN program at a private Christian university and graduated with my BSN.

I guess you could say I have 3 degrees. :)

So do I: BA, ADN, BSN. But when it comes to listing my credentials, I just use BSN. Well, except here :)

I just drop the others in favor of the highest; otherwise it gets a little crazy. I have 6 degrees — an AA (Liberal Arts), an AAS (Paramedic), an ASN, a BSN, an MSN in nursing informatics, and an MSN in nursing education. Yes, I suffer from that "I want to do everything" syndrome, haha. But to be fair, my first was earned at 19 and the last at 44. They are all separate degrees when they have separate diplomas!
