Is it true that if you fail the exam once they make it harder for you to pass the 2nd or 3rd time?

No, When you resit the computer does not know that you have sat it before.

But some stated limit you to taking the test 3 times then you have to repeat nursing school.

Also some employers would not like to see it took multiple times to pass, but once you find an employer and get a good evaluation no one will care.

The exam has no idea if you have ever tested before, you are using a new ATT as well.

Just another rumor that is floating around, and only that, a rumor.

You do NOT have to repeat nursing school! Some states have you take a remedial class before retaking after a certain number of times though.

And your employers do not know how many time you took it, only that you have a license.

I believe it's a refresher course. I'm not sure if it's just one course or if it's a series of courses that you must take if you fail a certain amount of times. I should ask because I know someone who failed it multiple times.

Actually, there are some states that only permit one to test up to three times, and otherwise require that they attend nursing school again before they will permit them to get licensed.

The majority of the states require remedial training or a specific review program after three attempts. Some are as little as two attempts, such as Vermont.

And then there are few that have no limits such as CA.

Refresher programs require that the nurse hold a valid license before they can sit for them.

It is a specific remedial program that needs to be completed by the states that will require them.

I know in my state of MA, three times and you are out. Thanks Suzanne for you information.

The nursing school is also notified and asked why this student failed, the school is held accountable since the student paid money to pass this test, and if the student had issues they should have failed the program.

I would not be surprised if other BON are going to review this process, since all states should have similar processes.

In Canada, three strike and you're out. Re-education time for the PNs, not to sure what happens to those who hold a BScN.

Our exams are still on paper and they are set nationally, so there is no way the exam can be tailored to one specific writer.

I am testing for FL, there I know if you fail 3 times you need to take a remedial course which is almost 2000 dollars and it is only given in jackson Memorial Hospital. Once you pass the exam there are refresh courses for foreign nurses and all the nurses that have been non active for 5 years.

I have taken the exam 2x, now I am studying different from before and more intense with the Saunder's book and Suzanne's tips, I am praying I pass this time bc after each failure I jut want to give up and so hard to start again. And I mean this is my future it all depends on this exam and I feel like screaming sometimes. I thank you all here at allnurses that give me so much support. Thank you all.

OUch, this is harsh on the student. The humiliation of being reported to your school ... in addition to failing the NCLEX ...
