I took the NCLEX 7 times, offcourse was devastated everytime that I found out that I failed. I just registered it the 8th time and now just confused because i do not know what other materials to use. I tried kaplan, saunders etc.. Please someone help me, i do not know what else to do. I tried everything... any recommendation will be greatly appreciated. I am making this my last time taking the test, if i fail it i will no longer try. I have exhausted all my savings and don't have a job, I will not have enough money to registered for NCLEX if i failed it again.. i tried getting job with no luck, so i really need this. Please help!!

You said you used Kaplan, saunders, etc. but what exactly have you been doing. What kind of scores do you get n the Kaplan trainers and Qbank. What kind of questions do you pass on Saunders....

It's hard to give you an answer on what to help with out specifics. When you get your failed letter back do each one of them tell you what you passed or didn't. Are there topics that you pass and certain topics you don't...

I keep keep getting 60s in the kaplan trainer, I pretty much feel confidence before the exams because I knew the stuff... but for some reason i keep failing them... during the 7 times that I failed, I keep restudying the areas that the failed results said that I need to improve and it seems as if something is failing me intensionally... please help...

im about to take the exam for the first time although is overwhelming i really still think that im going to make it.tell yourself that ure going to make it and u would.im using hurst review and i highly recommend that u use it too it makes studying easier and u understand questions better.please stay focused and ull make it ill add u in my prayers God will surely make a way.and i understand anwering questions help but at times it takes away the main purpose of studying which is understanding contents.please try and do both contents and questions.i really feel ur pain no body wants to go through all this.ill tell u how my exams went and please always pray when u are down because with God all things are possible.

thank for for the encourangement.. please do remember me in your prayers and I will pray for you as well so that you will pass in your first attempt.

You must have lacharity, exam cram and then frye's3000 bullets.Don't ever use the same material you used when you failed the test.Do exam cram and lacharity together.Know the lab values, infection control and priority and delegation Nneumonic(sp).Have a set schedule of studying and be consistent about it.Goodluck.

Thank you for the recommendations. I am currently ordering the lacharity: prioritization, delegation and assignment book, as well as the strategies for? do you think that those book are good?

thank you

Have you gotten a good, professional diagnosis for your test-taking problem? I believe anyone who fails the exam more than once in spite of vigorous studying, etc. should make the investment and consult an education specialist to find out WHY they are failing. Just as with health care, you are much more likely to intervene appropriately if you start with a good assessment and diagnosis.

You may have a learning disability or test anxiety or something that is preventing you from passing this exam. If that is the case, you may need to address that problem directly to improve your chanes of passing. An educational expert (educational psychologist perhaps?) could give you a thorough assessment and help you make a sound plan for addressing your test performance difficulties.

One definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." I think you need to try something completely different -- not just more content review and practice questions. I suggest using the scientific/nursing process of getting a thorough assessment of your problem by a professional education expert ... and then consulting with that expert to make a plan to address any identified issues.

Maybe I have a test taking enxiety, i definately do not have a learning disability. The problem is that I do not have the money to even consult an education specialist, i'm sure they charge lots of money just to talk to me. I agree that I wil try a different approach, but will try different books altogether... I keep using kaplan strategies which absolutely confuses me and does not really work... so i will try different sources this time... I see myself as a visual learner, usually have to see and practice on my own in order to stick in, and have to visualize what I am reading... maybe that might be a problem too.

thank you

I am so sorry that you have had to do this 7 times. I know you said you are tight on money, but if you can afford to spend 300 dollars, please invest in the hurst review. It is amazing, seriously. It is an online program with videos for all body systems and nursing areas. You said you are a visual learner and I think the idea of watching videos will benefit you in that respect. She also makes everything so simple to understand and her teaching style is the reason why her program is so succesful. Ask anyone who has taken this review and they will tell you the same. Understanding core content is the key to success on the nclex. Visit hurstreview.com and watch her sample video on fluid/ electrolytes; I think a lightbulb will go off in your head after seeing it. Pair this up with lacharity and another solid book for questions and I believe you will pass. Keep me updated and best of luck. You can do it!!

Thank you for the recommendation. what about the Hurst reviews Nclex Rn book? do you think it is helpful? I'm asking because its all i can afford right now and hope that the book will be helpful to me. I feel like I know nursing front to back, my problem is how to answer the questions. I don't think I'm deficient in knowledge.

I hear ya... Honestly I'm not sure I never bought the book. I don't see how it could hurt though. I know you said you tried Kaplan before but give it another shot. Completely soak yourself into the program and try not to spread yourself to thin by using a ton of different books; couple that with lacharity and I think you'll be okay. Kaplan is superior for test taking strategy and since you sai you know your content im sure it will do you well. Also memorize the infection control aid on this website. I bought hurst and Kaplan was provided to me by my school. I also bought the lacharity book and used these 3 for all my studying and was successful.
