ah yes i have discovered that problem..but that is not mine . :chuckle

perhaps i am somehow deficient

I don't really hear the pulse well either, I put my steth where I felt the pulse and I have no problems hearing where the beats start and stop while the cuff is deflating. I was so intimidated the first time I had to do it without a dynamap.

Did you turn the diaphragm around so you can hear it? It has two positions, one for the bell and the the diaphragm. Tap on it and you'll know which side is which. Good luck!

If you can't hear the beat at the brachial site...I would get my ears checked (hearing)........ no joke.

A few people I knew had a problem with low pitched sounds.

i figured out that the reason i could not hear anything was because i was trying to hear the pulse before i pumped the cuff at all
