Well I have taken my placement tests and did well for someone who graduated HS 31 yrs. ago. The counselor said I should consider the RN program. But I am still going to go for the LPN. I start school Jan. 06 taking pre-req. The college says for now I am enrolled in Health Services untill the fall of 06. Thats when the LPN program starts because I have classes that have to be taken before I can enter the program. My daughter is starting college when I am for the same program. One counselor told her that just because she applies to nursing school doesn't mean she will get in. That seemed so discouraging. Because we both want to be a nurse so much. She plans to go far with her nursing. But I am content to be an LPN. The waiting and wondering is hard on me. I keep asking myself what if I take all these pre-req and still cannot get in. Then what? Then I tell myself if you work hard and study and make good grades then you will make it. I keep saying to myself "You can do it" Nothing is going to prevent me from going for my dream. Its just sometimes I get a little discouraged.

Granny, at our age the waiting is the worst part because it seems we have so little time *to* wait
Just remember..anything worth having is worth waiting for. I have all the confidence in the world that you'll get accepted and more, you'll appreciate the opportunity.
You can do it!! I'll be 51 when I graduate this May..hehe

You are only 4 yrs older than me! You are still very, very young.
Seriously, I graduated HS in 1979. I did not start college until 1992. After AAS in Surgical Technology, AAS in Nursing [ADN], and BSN (all while working full-time), I'm now waiting to hear if I've been accepted into the US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing [CRNA]. Believe me, I understand the waiting & wondering is tough & can be very discouraging at times. However, try not to get discouraged d/t self-doubt. You know only you can make your dreams become reality... and they will!
Good luck!

Hello and welcome!
I just wanted to say, "Never give up!" Even if you don't get in your first time, keep trying. Maybe even apply to different schools.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
