Theme of the day....

Alright everybody...let's have some fun

In the ED I work in we try to come up with a daily theme..something humerous, apathetic...a little cynicsm helps. like: "we can't cure what you can't spell"... get the idea?

you could also do a word of the day and exhaust yourselves using an unusual word

Name that smell.

I notice that our theme days revolve around what presents the most, like appy day, CP day, stupid day, German day (those pts with germanic last names) Hispanic day, etc. And I say we are running a special on CP's on Monday's or that we have the Free Beer & Pizza sign out front to encourage people to sign in with minor complaints that they've had for a llllloooonnnnngggg time.

how many fingers and toes do you have today

After the night I had last night "There is an "I" in TEAM!!!

"The rED zone is for loading and unloading of real emergencies only... All others proceed to the ozone."

We often bet quarters on . . .

dog bite - guess what kind of dog?

H&H levels

ETOH levels ( I'm quite good at this one )

& of course urine tox screens.

It's all in good fun though & helps make the day/night a bit fun!

How about an: If you bring the ambulance for a blister on your big toe, I really don't care how you get home! day.

AMEN! And I don't really care how you get home just that you go away with your discharge information & RX & no we are not the diner, so don't ask for toast with jelly to go with your AM meds. Gee, would you like your toast cut into squares or triangles?:lol2:

I have decided that all ED nurses are cut from the same mold because so many of the topics we discuss here are exactly how things go in my own dept. We always come up with a theme for the day...LOL

We play name that rhythm and take bets on calling it..when the cardilogist comes it what ever he rules determines who wins. Yesterday we had a tricky one..it was a regular rhythm ventricular rate 110 no ectopy each qrs appeared to have the same p wave in front of it, we ran and ekg which showed a pr interval .189 pt had been in afib and was on cardizem drip I was betting sinus tachycardia..I lost .. somehow there was another p wave I couldn't pick up and the doctor ruled atrial flutter 2/1 conduction.
