TEAS test

I took it this past Tuesday. You could not use a calculator, but they did give you scrap paper and pencils. The test itself was computerized. It wasn't that bad. They said it was a 4 hour test, but I was done in 2. I did pretty well. The parts that really got me were some of the science questions...they were asking about types of rocks and tectonic plates and like earth science stuff I had no clue about. I didn't have any physics questions as some ppl had me scared about. But on the A&P part I got 100% so they were real happy about that...because that's actually the stuff you have to know, not all that stuff about clouds and whatnot, lol

I've heard that calculators are not used for the TEAS, at least here in the Bay Area, northern CA. Does anyone who has taken the TEAS have any input on whether or not the ATI practice materials are worth their purchase price?? I am hoping to take my test in the next 6 months or so.

Absolutely no. The teas test is a test of ESSENTIAL skills. You have to know how to do the basics to get in, decimals, fractions, percentages, etc. Basic grade school math. You shouldn't need a calculator. If you do, good luck in nursing school!

Absolutely not. It's not allowed. Lucky for those of you who got to use one! lol.

I had no such luck. I scored 89% in math. I'll tell ya..that's the only thing I had going for me! lol.

I'm going to have to agree. It's pretty basic college level math. If you need a calculator to do it, I would be worried. I don't think it's anything that anyone cannot do...it is just a bit more time consuming when you do it without a calculator. I would not be nervous about it. Just take your time.

did you use the ATI study guide? if so how close was it to the actual exam? should I memorize the study guide?

cstrick2...did you get in to Macon state? I am applying for January program and I am sooooo worried about the TEAS.

I am scheduled to take the TEAS on September 17th and I am terrified. I am an English person, so for those who are saying that the Math is a breeze, it isn't for me. I am using the study guide right now and about ready to throw it out of the window for this Math section. I am nervous, please pray for me. I believe I will be fine, I am just a bundle of nerves.

I'm not sure if they changed the rules but I just took the TEAS test last weekend and they supplied us w/ a calculator. The math portion isn't that bad if your good at algebra. I suck in Math and got a 75.3 on it (I did terrible in the Metric section though). Luckily I don't need much to get into the PN program at my school.

I'm guessing it must be up to the school giving it??? I was told that we don't get to use a calculator. That would be nice though :wink2: Nrsinthefam: Can you tell me anything about science portion. I graduated from college about 5 yrs ago so it has been awhile since I have had science. I have been studying but there is SO much science to cover. Do we need to know lots of formulas like....density, speed, moles, etc. What are the Chemistry type questions covered? HELP:(

Oh, you should do fine on the science portion. I've never taken a college level science class and scored an 85%. I was really shocked when I saw that score, cause I was nervous the whole time. I had lots of questions on different elements. There were some density and speed questions. Like I said you should do fine, I think majority of the questions are on a high school level. BTW, I didn't even know I was taking a test that day and was starving cause I didn't eat breakfast...lol. Hopefully that's eased you a little bit!!!:wink2:
