  1. Looking for the same info. (Thinking of) Relocating from DC suburbs to RTC. Cost of living is Very different, but still concerned with the difference in pay
  2. Thank you for your input. Llg. To luv dub definitely for passion, I just don't want to be low balled either. I love what I do and the specialty that I currently serve, as it has been a lifetime passion. I just want to know the going rate because I am coming from a different perspective (salary) wise.
  3. Hi Everyone! I am currently in a RN-MSN program. I am curious as to how much I should expect to make once I earn my MSN degree. I am looking for a ball park, and what type of position you guys hold, (Still trying to figure what I want to be when I grow up, lol). I know it there are many variabilities, but would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance for your help :)
  4. Did they award you your BSN degree once you completed that portion? I originally started in the BSN tract this January, and spoke with my mentor, and at the conclusion of this class I will be able to switch to the MSN. My mentor ensured me that I will get my degree when I finish that part. Did that happen for you?
  5. I am currently in the BSN program, and will be switching to the MSN program once I finish my last class of the semester (which is this one) Thank God!!! My concern in the beginning was that I would not receive my BSN degree upon completing those requirements until the end of both programs. My current mentor stated that I would indeed receive my degree once I am finished the BSN portion, and thus decided to continue with the program for the Master's. I am not aware of the preceptor for the leadership MSN. Can anyone further elaborate if possible? I will say I am content with my progress in the program. I began the RN-BSN journey January 1, and am in my last class of the semester. Good luck to everyone with their studies :)
  6. Congratulations to you as well. I am still quasi new, I am coming up on my year this December.
  7. Ever since I was five years old I wanted to work in women's health. Before I even knew the proper nomenclature I knew I wanted to be a healthcare provider to and for women. I recently obtained a position in the hospital in a med/surg unit. I knew this wasn't my forever job, but it was great experience for me. I also work at an urgent care, also a great experience, but I was always waiting for my turn. Everything I did and do I geared toward obtaining my goal(s). I applied for a Mother/Baby position at a hospital approx 45 minutes away, hoping for a shot in the dark. The hospital is opening a new facility with a new women's health department. I was excited, and had hope, but didn't expect anything; especially since I haven't heard since May! I since accepted a position and placed the position in the back of my mind, counting down the days until I could transfer to the Mother/Baby unit within the health system that I am currently employed. Last Wednesday I received a call, seemingly out of the blue for an interview... for a women's health position! I interviewed, yesterday (my daughter's birthday), and received a call today from the manager. She stating that she is willing to train me, even though they don't have much room for someone without women's health experience, but she believes in me and my potential in this specialty. Not only will I be working Mother/baby, but will be crossed trained for labor and delivery as well. Someone can knock me down with a feather! I am so grateful, God is good, and miracles do happen. I am feeling accomplished, I still have so much to do, but today I feel great. Allnurses has been with me through and through. I am now looking for some great advise from some great nurses on this site, as to how I make a seamless transition. Thanks in advance, New Women's Health RN
  8. I am interested in knowing this as well, as I would like to further my degree post WGU (RN-BSN) to get my NP in Women's Health.
  9. I took the test today, it went well, I filled out all my new hire paper work, and as I walked out I decided to take a job with the hospital (because, they too offered me a position), so I have to decline the position now. It is a very crazy situation. Thanks, everyone for your responses.
  10. Okay, thanks so much for answering my questions, I really appreciate it! :)
  11. Ok, thanks for the input. You mentioned in the previous post that benefits start from day one... are they good benefits, and how much generally is taken from your check?
  12. I might be wording it wrong, I believe it is a med exam, I just don't know what to expect
  13. I recently interviewed at Health South in VA. In the interview they mentioned a RN test, I don't know what to expect, what should I know? Also, how much do they pay their RNs and how are the benefits? Thanks in advance
  14. I just got a job in urgent care, which I plan on working for at least a year, BUT I know that my ultimate goal is in women's health. I just am trying to plan my next steps accordingly. I thank you for your advice.
