TEAS 6

Hey guys! I just recently learned about a new version of TEAS starting in the fall 2016. Has anyone heard of this or has any information? I've tried to research online, but I didn't see anything. Thanks!

Math was mostly word problems. A lot of fractions. Make sure to review addition, subtraction, multiplication of fractions. I don't remember seeing division of fractions but just study it as well. Percentage, perimeter and area of a rectangle and triangle. Know the formula of PI and know how to solve it. Hope this helps.

Hi EVERYONE!! I have a few questions I'm hoping i can get some HELP! I'm taking the TEAS test Version 6 in December, 2016, AGAIN... ITS MY THIRD TIME! Three times a charm... thats all i keep telling myself. I have the ATI V manual, but do you think i need the new version for version 6 test? I have the Mometrix book ( ATI TEAS SECRETS). But Im scared its not enough. Should i get the version 6 ATI manual? I just heard theres a ton of mistakes and it was poorly done... but on here i see differently! HELP! I HAVE TO PASS IT SO I CAN START THE PROGRAM IN THE SPRING (2017)

Is the science very different?

math?

thank you !

Hey everyone!

So, I took the ATI Teas 6 this week--which is my first time ever, by the way--and I am proud to say I scored an overall individual score of 90%!

Reading: 91.5%

Math: 93.8%

Science: 85.1%

English and Language Usage: 87.5%

I took the exam on a computer, they give you scratch paper and you're allowed to use the on-screen calculator for the Math section.

In terms of studying, I only had 10 days to study before the exam. I used the ATI TEAS Study Manual (6th Edition) from the ATI testing website. I went through the entire manual and answered all practice questions and quizzes. Since I had already taken my pre-reqs (Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology), it was pretty simple and easy to review. I also purchased the A & B practice exams online. I took A and scored 82.7%. The next day I took B and scored 78.7%. The day after (also the day of my exam), I retook A and got 95.3%. I think all of the materials really helped, since it was straight from ATI. Yes, there's a lot of mistakes in the manual, but 1) the addendum is on the website, and 2) some of the mistakes were either common sense to fix.

I almost ran out of time on the actual test during the Reading, Math, and English sections. During my practice exams, however, I had more than enough time leftover. I think during the actual test, nerves just got to me and I wanted to really make sure I was reading the sentences/problems correctly because that's what knocked points off in my practice exams. So make sure to READ CAREFULLY! For example, sometimes you get ahead of yourself and think that the question is asking for the synonym, but they actually ask for the antonym.

The science section is pretty straight to the point, just need to know general chemistry and basic concepts. It was more A&P focused, so make sure you really know the systems of the body and their general concepts! Also, the manual has the objectives listed for science (and all the other sections) which really helped a lot.

I think the ATI study manual and practice tests were very similar to the real exam. I'm not sure how the TEAS V was, and I can't compare the versions since I never took it, but trust me, the manual helps a whole lot!

Was the actual exam more like the practice A or B? What's the difference between both? I only purchased B...

That's hard to say...the exam was pretty much like A and B combined because it took similar style questions from both. The practice exams are spot on about how questions on the real test would be phrased though.

I have been using the Mometrics TEAS book and crash courses on YouTube. I will update you as I take my TEAS tomorrow morning.

This is very helpful! Thank you ! Nice job on your score :) Im taking this test for the 3rd time on Dec 14th. I have all the books, but even the nurses i work with are like pick a book and stick to it. Don't have too much material, or you will be overwhelmed.... I think thats why my brain was mush the last 2 times. I am super excited about the new teas book. thanks again for your info!

Hey everyone!

Before I took the TEAS 6, I searched everywhere for information from people that have already taken it and there wasn't much out there. Because of this, I vowed to come back on here and post some advice / info on the test. I took the TEAS 6 on November 30th, 2016. Here is my grade breakdown:

Individual Overall Score: 89.3%

Reading: 91.5%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 83.0%

English: 83.3%

My rank level was - Advanced. The following information was included with my grade - Here's how ATI ranks you with a summary in my own words:

Developmental: 0-40.7% - Very low level of overall preparedness, need to study more.

Basic: 41.3%-58.0% - Low level of preparedness, need a little bit more study.

Proficient: 58.7-77.3% - Moderate level of preparedness, additional preparation of some of the objectives assessed.

Advanced: 78.0-90.0% - High level of preparedness, not likely required to prepare more for objectives assessed.

Exemplary: 90.7-100.0% - Very high level of preparedness, no additional preparation needed.

National Means / Highest National Personal Record TO DATE (12/01/16)

Overall: 65.6% / 98%

Reading: 72.4% / 95%

Math: 68.6% / 99%

Science: 57.2% / 95%

English: 66.3% / 90%

Here's how I studied for it:

TEAS 5 ATI study book, practice tests in the book and 2 practice tests I bought online;

TEAS 6 Mometrix study book and practice tests in the book;

TEAS Mastery iphone app - full paid version

TEAS Pocket Prep iphone app - full paid version

My A&P notes from classes & my college chem notes

Free ATI TEAS 6 Practice Test - Best TEAS Test Prep!

http://www.armandoh.org - THIS GUY IS AWESOME! If you are a visual learner, this is a must!

I also googled a lot of practice tests and took anything I could find online.

Basically, I gathered all my information from the sources above and put together my own 30 page (font 8!) study guide. I can honestly say that the actual test wasn't nearly as hard as the practice tests I took and it is written differently than the version 5 test. I studied for about a month, took a break for about a month to focus on school and life and then studied for a solid 2 weeks straight right before taking it. The day before the test, the very first thing I did was watch the movie "The Secret." Go ahead and laugh, but I like to watch it whenever I have something big happening. I wanted to source a good grade after all my hard work. Afterwards, I spent the whole day watching videos from http://www.armandoh.org....Science was always my weakest point so that is what I focused on. I probably studied for around 10 hours that day. Then I shut my brain off, took a bath and went to bed at a decent hour. I got up the next day, ate a great, clean breakfast, took a nice shower and did a quick hour review. I was in a great mood, felt rested, full but not stuffed or groggy and prepared. Then I took the test at 1:00 that afternoon. It took ATI 36 hours to send me my grade - it was grueling!!

I wish you all luck on the test. You can do it! Remember why you are taking it in the first place - to become a nurse to help people and make a difference in this world - with that mindset, nothing can stand in your way, not even this test.

Hello.....I took the test for the second time and got a 68%. Now, this is my question does anyone know if the mometrix teas 6 study guide is good? A lot of people have told me to get it that, that is so far the best study guide out there. I need to pass this test to get into the nursing program by fall 2017. Can anyone give me a feed back on where else I can gather information to study? My weakness is the science part, that was where I scored the lowest. I need help!!!

Hi there! When you retook the TEAS tests, were the questions the same on each test?

The calculator helped me a lot. I failed the math portion of the teas v three times 3 years ago. I took the teas 6 today and my highest score was the math. Please know how to balance equations in chemistry and a&p needs to be covered in depth. I got a passing score. I'll update if I get accepted to South University with my score. By the way South University is currently still allowing people to apply with version v scores .

I used the Mometrix guide and was pleased with it. I also used pocket prep and teas mastery.

Have you completed your pre-reqs? How long ago?
