Survived my 1st week on a busy surgical ortho floor!
Started with one patient of my own Monday & worked my way to three on Friday. So far, I think all is going well although I feel like I'm asking TONS of questions & have moments that I feel kind of stuck. Everyone has been very welcoming to me & don't act irritated by my questions (yet). I have a great preceptor nurse along with a few others that I've been teamed with & some great aides. In general, everyone seems to work together great, helping each other out all the time. Getting organized to handle more patients is what I'm trying to focus on along fine tuning assessment skills and making sure to keep an eye out for complications (developing my "gut instincts").
Many thanks to AN members! I sooooo appreciate all the advice, hints, opinions, & support that I've seen on many posts! :redpinkhe

My first week on the floor was by far the hardest. Congrats for making it through! It sounds like the majority of your butterflies are out of your system, now let the real learning begin! You can do it!
