Hello.
I am studying for my Nclex for the 3rd time around and I am currently using two books, Saunder and Lipincott. I am having trouble using the two book, I can only concentrate on one book at a time. I often see treads where ppl are using serveral book, I would like some suggestions or tips on how to alternate using the two books. I know this may seem like a silly question.

Worst thing that you can do is to use two books at this time, you need to focus on one and that alone. You said it as well that it is hard to use.

hi! Pls use one book for a better understanding and not to confused you.. you may use two or more authors once you are starting your practice test...Dont worry too much for in every questions answers are provided and well explained..
hope this will help you!! good luck!

Saunders is a good review book. But... I have talked to one of my coworker who is great nurse educator. She suggested practicing lots of questions everyday and looking at the rationales with those practice questions. I took NCLEX yesterday. I overstudied. My coworker was right. :typingYou need to practice how to take computerized test questions.
I am stilling waiting for my results...... ahhhhh
Good Luck!!!I am praying you passed...thanks to everyone who responded..

I used different books when I was in the program. For every body system such as GI or GU, I did NCLEX for each section and learnt different things that maybe the other book did not include in the book!
Also the practice questions of different books ask for similar questions, meaning these are the most basic info you need to know! And sometimes those most basic ones will be on the NCLEX (personal experience)!
That is the advantage!
The disadvatange is that different books may give different answers to different questions, which turned me off and I just ignored the questions and went with what I learnt in school or the more popular books (Saunder, in this case)!

carribean queen , now were sharing the same thing, and our heart can beat as one, no more love on the run...
Anyhow, I would suggest you study only one book. I would say stick with saunders. I gain so much content knowledge that I know much more now then before after reading the saunders book. Although the saunders book is very detailed and alot of information is not really needed, it is a very comprehensive refresher review for the nclex.
I think right now, you are going through the emotions and have much anxiety within you. This is why you can't decide between two review books. Just take it easy and slow and study one book and complete it thouroughly. If you have time later after you completed on review book then study the other book.

From what I have been hearing (when people use two or more books), it seems like they are using Kaplan's (read this one first to teach you how to weed out incorrect answers and what the question is asking), then apply the strategy to Saunders (or any other book with questions)This is my understanding and this is how I plan to study.

Hi
I have been following your posts ...I have to agree with Suzanne4 study from one book....it can be confusing to use two books.. but.. a suggestion.... use credible sources maybe the internet or honestly the search engine of allnurses has a wealth of both practical and theoretical knowledge!!!! I used it extensively during my study to clear doubts and in the bargain learned a lot!!!!! ..by the way I used Saunders!!
