Studyguide 101 content

Published

Hi, just wondering for those of you who used studyguide101...does the content match EC's content guides? For example, EC's guide goes over impairment of blood vessels (HTN, PVD, AAA, etc)...does the studyguide101 go into all of those as well? I am deciding whether to go with studyguide101 or make my own outlines... Thanks =)

Did you know that many of the studygroup 101 notes and the Lisa Arend Notes are notes you can get for free?

Yep I have seen them and even purchased one of them. They are notes from the other yahoo sites....and many of them are my notes from when I did the courses. There is a yahoo group with many of the notes available for free.

Good Luck with yoru studies

The Notes on the yahoo sites are posted with the old names to the courses but the content is the same.

I caution you though....you can't just pass an exam by learning notes...not mine, Lisa Arends nor the studygroup101 notes. I still suggest you get the Fundamentals of Nursing text and read the required chapters.

Here is how the old courses match the new courses

NC 1= Health Safety

NC 2= Health Differences

NC3= Chronicity and Repro Health

NC 4= LS1

NC5= LS2

NC6= LS3

NC7= Transitions

I caution you though....you can't just pass an exam by learning notes...not mine, Lisa Arends nor the studygroup101 notes.

I would disagree completely with this statement. I used sg101 exclusively except for microbiology where I used a couple books from the library to clarify some sg101 info. I did use the official excelsior practice exams, but they weren't all that helpful when you consider the amount and content of practice tests with sg101, and obviously $75 is a complete rip off.

I have to disagree! I have used SG101 (study guides, not notes) for all my exams so far and they are awesome and you definately can't beat the price. I have also got the notes from the Yahoo groups and that is not what studygroup101 sells. Now I do agree that some of Lisa's is from there and her's are 'notes' just like she says they are, but I haven't used any of hers for my exams after the first one.

I finished the program this fall, and I tried Lisa Arrends for Chronicity and studygroup101 for transitions for Chronicity and transitions, as well as all of required text books, and there is no way I would have passed, much less passed with my 3.4 gpa with just lisa's or studygroup. I think the success of those resources depends on the student's own background of nursing education. I was one of the students that did all of the required reading, took all my own notes, and did the practice exams (which were amazingly spot on). I liked lisa's notes for review purposes, and I found so many errors in studygroup (ophthalmic post op practices come to mind) I didn't use them. I have friends that did all of Excelsior's exams with just Saunders NCLEX review, which I found to be another excellent review resource. Good luck to everyone studying :)

Nice to see you used the text books also Loops! Hey Lunah, I saw in one of your other replies that you also agree that a text book or 2 especially the Fundamental's Of Nursing is a much better resourse supply than just the notes from the Online sites.... It looks as if we are in the majority but that's ok because we know what kind of study nut students we are
