how to study for nclex?

Published

I just graduated may 22nd and I took the kaplan course from 5/24-5/27. For those of you who used kaplan and passed what was your daily study schedule like?

I didn't do so great on the diagnostic and readiness tests. I only scored a 60% on both. I have taken a couple of qbank tests and did worse!! i'm just really stressing...

Hi we are in the same situation right now. I also did the kaplan diagnostic and i scored 72.78%.. What I'm doing right now is I'm reading the saunders comprehensive review and the kaplan review course. I'm also answering at least 100 question a day. Not sure if this is a good study plan..

i am getting ready to take the nclex on june 25th. My study schedule til then is doing 200 test questions between saunders and kaplan. if there is a particular section that i dont score well on i will then study it again and retake another 200 questions. i figured 2hrs a day when i work and at 4hrs when i have a day off with breaks in between. good luck to you

I am sort of in the same boat. I scored 64% on the diagnostic. My kaplan class starts this week and average about 100 questions per day. I am also using saunders comprehensive 4th edition. Should I be doing more questions? Good Luck to everyone taking their exam

I did Kaplan and got 65 on diagnostic and 67 on readiness test. Have been doing 100-180 questions and feel I get myself confused since I try using their "decision tree" now. Feel like I am losing my mind studying for this test.

i feel like the decision tree actually hurt me more than helped me. maybe i have not used it frequently enough to notice any changes in my test taking abilities. i wonder if it hurts to do more than 150 questions per day since my kaplan instructor told us to do between 50-150 in the timed mode. i'm getting really stressed and anxious and i normally am not this way...

we will pass!!

I only study for 2 hrs a day.. they say less but frequent is much better

Personally, I studied a whopping 4 or 5 hours for the NCLEX and got 78 questions and passed. I think I could have studied months more and would not have been any more prepared. Good luck to everyone!

4-5 hours per day? for how long?

What I got from her post is that she studied 4-5 hours, and that's it. Everyone is different, if you know yourself why put yourself through a month of studying if it wouldn't do anything..

Good luck everyone, I take the NCLEX-RN June 28th!

I just thought I would throw it out there...Maybe everyone already knows this. If so, sorry for "preaching to the choir". But you are not aiming for a 100% on the NCLEX. The NCLEX is not designed as a graded test - it is just a pass or fail. Practice and comp exams give you an idea of where you are at by giving you your grade as a percentage. But that is just it, practice!

Remember also that there will be a national average. That is not 100%. (Seriously, can ANYONE make a 100% on the NCLEX?! lol...). For the NCLEX-PN, the NATIONAL average on a comp exam we took was only 67.8%.

Just wanted to throw that out there, and remind everyone. Don't get so stressed over it. Just think positively, prepare well, and get some rest! Don't make yourself sick over it. Good luck!
