Stop it!

Stop with the rapid fire emails to management everytime you disagree with a call I make on the floor. By choice you spend all day in the observation room and are only on the floor for a few minutes during behavioral management issues. I appreciate your help and experience but you aren't on the floor enough to know what is happening, this is not your regular shift and you don't have a license to lose. I hate pulling the RN card but seriously, if you don't agree with the decisions I make, and you aren't willing to talk with me so I can explain the reasoning behind my decision making- then please go to nursing school so you can take my job and run the shift the way you want it to be run.

Absolutely! Or the non-formulary that the physician orders, but that we don't presently carry, and then NOT bothering to even call the nurse to report that we don't have it/let the nurse know of the status of it.

Please stop telling your resident/attending that I didn't relay essential information to you. My notes prove otherwise. The patient has had hematuria for two days now and I notified you both times. Additionally, the patient has told you about the color of her urine. So when I question your order for Coumadin to the pharmacist, please don't lie and say you didn't know the patient was actively bleeding. And don't tell the attending that either. We both know you just forgot. Be human.

To a certain CNA: Stop spending your breaks outside smoking cigarettes and then taking extended breaks towards the end of the shift because you need to sit down because of your heart problems.

To the guilty CNA(s): The razors we have in the supply room are disposable. After you shave the patient with it, throw it away in the sharps container. Stop putting used, uncapped razors in the drawers with the other patient care items. Yesterday I almost got nicked by a Hep C patient's used razor while trying to find some lotion.
