Stony Brook Basic BSN Class of 2019

SBU NURSING APPLICANTS FOR FALL 2017

Hey guys! I've decided to start this thread for all applicants. I know it's a bit early but I'm hoping we can all help each other! Last year I applied for the Basic BSN program and was chosen for an interview. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the program. I was accepted to SBU and decided to attend this year and take some classes. I've already received my associate degree in Liberal Arts from NCC. Where is everyone transferring from?

Do your chances for receiving an interview decrease the later you submit your application? I wasn't able to submit mine until the deadline.

I don't believe so, because I submitted my application on the day of the deadline as well.

I have a 3.7gpq and no clinical/work experience.I happen to have very great recommendations and a great personal statement.

I don't think that is the case.i submitted one of my recommendations 4days after the deadline

were your science grades super good?

I don't think they necessarily pick people for an interview very heavily off of how they're science grades are. My science gpa is around a 3.6 but I know people who have gotten C+/B- in some sciences and still got interviews/accepted.

were your science grades super good?

Umm mine were, I only had 4.0 grades for the program science requirements. I have no idea how much that is taken into account.

My science GPA was around a 3.6. I know people who got in with grades for the science pre reqs in the C+ - B- range though!

My science prereqs were all Bs and As. Everything else were As. I also have a bachelor's degree from Stony Brook, but I don't know if that helps.

were your science grades super good?

My GPA is 3.9, approximately the same for my overall science GPA. But I've been working in Healthcare for almost 10 years. Although, not in direct patient care positions such as LPN or CNA.

Can anybody who has interviewed already explain how the group interview works? For instance, Is it awkward being the last of 6 people answering the same question?

I received my interview email at 1:50 as well!

Cant wait to interview with you guys. So nerve racking :nailbiting:
