Stony Brook Basic BSN Class of 2019

SBU NURSING APPLICANTS FOR FALL 2017

Hey guys! I've decided to start this thread for all applicants. I know it's a bit early but I'm hoping we can all help each other! Last year I applied for the Basic BSN program and was chosen for an interview. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the program. I was accepted to SBU and decided to attend this year and take some classes. I've already received my associate degree in Liberal Arts from NCC. Where is everyone transferring from?

Will there be a second round of interviews?

From what I can tell from last years thread, they do send out more interview in about a week!

I'm sure there will be. From reading previous posts, it looks like they come in waves

Hi, I have an upcoming interview for the two year nursing program and was told there was a brief writing sample which I'm extremely nervous about and wanted to know is it similar to the essay for the application; on why you want to be a nurse or the topic is completely different. Also, what type of Math is on the interview.

Yayyyy!!!!

I got an email to schedule an interview.

Im so excited.Did anyone get an email yet?

i did to!!

I posted this earlier in the thread, so I'll just repost it here!

The interview consists of the group interview with about five other applicants. There were about 6 questions. After our interview, we had to write an essay on the computer (the question was similar to the essay/ personal statement). Then we had a short math exam to do. It was basic math with some dosage questions, long division, multiplication. Then applicants started receiving letters mid-April.

Dani- can you explain what you mean by dosage questions?

There are ratio questions. For example, Lanoxin is ordered 0.25 mg is ordered for the patient. You have Lanoxin 0.125 mg tablets. How many tablets will you give? The answer is 2 tablets.

Just have a basic understanding of conversions and you'll be fine!

Has anyone heard back about an interview this week? I know they did one wave last week? Is it positive that there is another wave this week??

I think that in the past it was slightly longer then a week for the second round. But there is no rhyme or reason with these things

has anyone received an interview email yet? still didn't get mine yet :nailbiting:

Good luck to all with interviews! I have mine coming up in February. SBU is only school I've applied to so far and will surely go if accepted. Very nervous for the interview! I also hope they don't take longer than end of March for admissions decision. Anyone know usually when they release results for acceptance for the Fall start?
