Starting my 40th year

Hi gang!

So I just have my yearly eval, which was over-all exceptional. But ...and there always is one...my manager who is half my age seems to me to be hung up on one particular thing....at times I appear anxious. Now granted this is not new to me even with this level of experience. I am admittedly a perfectionistic person...I often am assigned challenging clients. I love what I do most days and would like to continue.

Suggestions.

Wow, you got started on your career so young!

I think their action to your caught and interrupted feeding error is way over the top. That being your only error in 40 years is stellar; I don't know any nurses that can say that. I don't think there would be many nurses in my over 200 RN NICU unit if we were treated that way; there would be a huge turnover with people leaving out of fear and people being fired for mistakes. Unbelievable.

LOL...INDEED! :) I am a perfectionistic person...although my spelling does suck! And yes I was only 21 years old when I came to the NICU in 1979! Just a kid!

Hang on......I have found home health a grand "pre retirement" job, I actually enjoy

I can work in community health as I am certified, also am certified in bereavement support. Just do not know anymore....

Face it, ageism is real.......they have to pay us more for our experience.....

which a younger nurses can be payed less.......trust me if you are trying to die, and you want to live.... you want a nurse similar to me taking care of you......I know you know what I mean---

Yes I know what you mean, and feel the same way! My younger NM however I feel is trying to get me to leave.....and I think I will be....I have already cried about it all....

Try 46.5 years...... I desire to work as long as cognitively and physically can...

We have seen a lot, can handle a lot....

Just keep on keeping on as long as you desire....I personally have failed retirement 4 times...I get nbored after 6 weeks or so.....and at this stage of our career, it is nice to be recruited, rather than apply for jobs....

Best Wiishes

Wow hats off to you my friend!
