for med/surg in a hospital anywhere from 21-23 base. 23 is on the high end and thats if you work for a larger corporate. Private hospitals are 19-21. This is in Palm Beach/Broward area
ok thank you. i have been having people ask me this all year and i had no idea what to tell them. i know i started out at 19.25 when i first finished school years back. didnt want to tell them that if its considered to low these days

FL is a huge state. The closer you get to Alabama and GA the lower the pay, usually, and bigger cities will offer more pay. You'd get better answers by giving us a city.
Sarasota Memorial just upped their base pay to $22 and change, up from $21. St Pete is still in the $21 range, last I knew.

I make $21 per hour as a school nurse in Marianna, up in the Panhandle near lower Alabama. But I have 10 years experience and this is all I get.
A few of my classmates are with HCA they started out at 23 base pay. I'm in critical care so the starting new grad rate for that is $24+ base pay. Then don't forget about all the shift differentials ( usually about $4-5 more an hour) and weekend differential. I have another classmate with Baycare and starting pay was $23+ for her! That's only my input from myself and my other classmates!

Baycare starts at 24.42 for New grads plus $5.00 more for nightshift. Baycare has 11 hospitals located through out the Tampa Bay area.
Cool. I don't know anything about Baycare. Do they play that game where nightshift pay starts at 11 PM, and there's a $3 or so "evening" differential? My HCA hospital did that. *shudder* Staffing levels were dangerous there. ICU nurses were tripled regularly. Good to hear about the pay though.
